An updated Seagull EV model has been unveiled by BYD in China. The Seagull was first introduced at costs as low as CNY 78,000 (about Rs 9 lakh), and it became an immediate hit. With a starting price of CNY 69,800 (Rs 8 lakh), the 2025 upgrade is now much more alluring. The design of the 2025 BYD Seagull is subtly updated. The car’s recognisable appearance is maintained by the unaltered front fascia. But instead of the “Build Your Dreams” branding, BYD lettering is now visible on the back.
The Seagull’s measurements, which are as follows: length 3,780 mm, width 1,715 mm, height 1,540 mm, and wheelbase 2,500 mm, are comparable to those of the Tata Tiago EV.
BYD Seagull: Features and Specifications
The 15-inch steel wheels with wheel coverings come standard with the Basic Vitality Edition. The 16-inch aluminium alloy wheels of the Freedom Edition and Flying Edition, however, are different. Warm Sun White, Peach Pink, Polar Night Black, and Arctic Blue are the available exterior hues.
Additionally, BYD provides two interior colour choices: Dune Pink and Deep Ocean Blue. With sporadic feature additions, the internal features list largely stays the same. The Flying Edition and Freedom Edition have electrically movable driver’s chairs, heated front seats, and a transportable wireless charger. The 10.1-inch rotatable infotainment screen and the 7-inch instrument screen remain notable features.
The new powertrain options are a crucial factor in the 2025 BYD Seagull’s pricing adjustment. The smaller 30.08 kWh battery pack in the base Vitality Edition and mid-spec Freedom Edition provides about 305 km of range on a single charge. In contrast, a larger 38.8 kWh battery pack with a stated 405 km range on a single charge is included in the top-spec Flying Edition.
The only electric engine powering the front wheels is still in place, and it can accelerate from 0 to 50 km/h in 4.9 seconds. With its aggressive pricing plans, BYD Seagull is likely to disrupt the electric vehicle market when it launches in India. The BYD Seagull moniker has also been trademarked by the firm in India.
