About 50% of Electric Vehicle Owners Are Buying Petrol Vehicles Again!

In India and other nations across the world, the popularity of electric automobiles has declined in recent months. Most recently, Park+ conducted a new study that revealed some intriguing findings. According to reports, a considerable proportion of Indian owners of electric vehicles (EVs) are reevaluating their dedication to electric mobility. According to the survey, 51% of EV owners in big cities like Bangalore, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR are thinking about switching back to internal combustion engine (ICE) cars.

A staggering 88% of EV owners reported feeling more anxious about finding convenient, secure, and working charging stations than they did about the range of their cars, according to the results of the most recent Park+ poll, which gathered feedback from 500 EV owners.

Electric Vehicle Major Issues

Numerous survey and study participants noted that “charging anxiety” has emerged as a more important problem than the more widely recognised “range anxiety.” For those who might not know, range anxiety is the dread that a car won’t be able to travel far between charges. In addition, the survey revealed that 73% of EV owners consider maintenance expenditures to be confusing and difficult. According to their reports, a lot of local technicians have trouble even diagnosing basic EV problems, therefore owners are unable to get second views on repair prices.

Therefore, the general unhappiness among EV owners is increased by this uncertainty. Furthermore, the resale value of 33% of respondents’ EVs had significantly decreased. This depreciation has also been exacerbated by the absence of common testing to assess the quality of an electric vehicle’s battery, which accounts for thirty percent of the vehicle’s cost.

As mentioned previously, the absence of easily available and dependable charging infrastructure is the main reason given by EV owners for returning to ICE cars. Even though there are more than 20,000 EV charging stations in India, accessibility and visibility are still big issues. Because of the unpredictability of charging station availability, many EV owners restrict their travel to short intercity excursions of less than 50 kilometres. The convenience and dependability of petrol or diesel cars are becoming more and more preferred as a result of the insufficient charging infrastructure.
