The MG Cloud EV, a 4.3-meter-long car that looks like a hybrid of a big hatchback and an MPV, is anticipated to be the first offering from MG‘s impending product assault. A heavily camouflaged Cloud EV test mule was recently seen testing on Indian roads in advance of the vehicle’s impending introduction. This is what to anticipate.

MG Cloud EV’s external styling

The Cloud EV is shaped and positioned like a traditional MPV, but it can only fit five people in two rows, so it looks more like a bigger hatchback. Its clean, minimalistic design features full-width LED light bars at both ends, flat door knobs, and smooth surfaces. The Cloud EV’s distinctive appearance is further enhanced by its stepped front-end design, which is hidden in these photos but features headlamps placed on the bumper. But its enormous glasshouse that wraps around the back flawlessly, the expanded quarter glass portions, and the sharply sloped front and rear windscreens are all quite evident.

MG Cloud EV’s cabin and amenities

The interior has few physical buttons and controls in a minimalistic style. It offers the benefits of interior packaging—being a born electric vehicle—that provides enough space. A huge touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, and completely reclineable front seats into “sofa mode” are all featured on the dashboard. A horizontal trim perfectly incorporates AC vents, and the door panels hold the unique round speakers. In international regions, it also features an ADAS suite with a 360-degree camera.

MG Cloud EV’s range and battery

Two battery pack configurations are available for the Cloud EV abroad: a 37.9kWh and a 50.6kWh pack with a range of 360 km and 460 km, respectively. It has a 134 horsepower permanent magnet synchronous motor located in the front axle, though it’s unclear whether the version will be offered locally.

Based on insider information, MG plans to offer the Cloud EV for less than Rs 20 lakh in India. This puts it squarely in the EV market, competing with the Tata Nexon EV and Mahindra XUV400. Compared to MG’s ZS EV, which has been a consistent seller for the brand, it will be more reasonably priced. A competitive price for the Cloud EV will be determined by thorough localization efforts, which will also include the battery pack.
