Xiaomi SU7 EV released in China, with an 830 km range

Three months after the SUV’s global debut in December 2023, Xiaomi has officially disclosed the cost of its first-ever all-electric vehicle. The Xiaomi SU7 was introduced on the Chinese market. It comes in three different variants: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max. The regular variant costs RMB 2,15,900 (about Rs 24.90 lakh). The SU7 Max is the most expensive model, costing RMB 2,99,900 (about Rs 34.61 lakh). The mid-spec Pro is priced between these two models at RMB 2,45,900 (about Rs 28.37 lakh), which is the same as the entry-level Tesla Model 3 in China.

According to Xiaomi, the Pro variant will begin shipping to consumers later in May, while the basic and Max editions will begin delivering at the end of April. In addition, there is a limited-edition SU7 available in 5,000 samples, called the Founders Edition. This model will start to be delivered on April 3.

Xiaomi SU7 EV Specifications

The Xiaomi SU7, formerly known as the MS11, has a 3,000mm wheelbase and measures 4,997mm long, 1,963mm wide, and 1,455mm height. Depending on the version you choose, the kerb weight of the electric car ranges from 1,980-2,205 kg. You get a 517-liter trunk and a 105-litre frunk for your belongings.

The Tesla Model 3, a competitor in the market for Xiaomi, has a design akin to the SU7. The sedan from the smartphone manufacturer has a tapering bonnet, an air dam on the front bumper, and LED headlamps curved like teardrops. A sloping roofline, linked LED taillights, a camera mounted on the B pillar, and a selection of 19- or 20-inch wheels are other visual components. Higher-spec models come equipped with Lidar technology mounted behind the front windscreen and an active rear wing.

Xiaomi’s SU7 is built on the Modena platform. It works with both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems, and with 400V and 800V electric architectures. Three battery packs are available: a 101kWh CATL Qilin on performance-oriented variants, a 94.3kWh CATL Shenxing on mid-spec variants, and a 73.6kWh BYD’s LFP Blade battery on base variants.

A 295 horsepower electric motor is connected to a 73.6 kWh BYD LFP Blade battery in the basic XU7. It can reach a maximum speed of 210 km/h and a CLTC range of 700 km. A 94.3kWh CATL Shenxing battery with an 830km CLTC range and a 101kWh CATL Qilin battery with an 800km CLTC range are used by the Pro and the Max, respectively. 

A dual motor all-wheel-drive system on the performance version of the SU7 allows it to attain a top speed of 265 km/h. It is claimed that 0-100 km/h can be reached in 2.78 seconds.

In addition, there is a physical air conditioning button, a start-stop button, a wireless charging place, and a panoramic sunroof. Additional components include of a 4.7-liter refrigerator and many phone and laptop compartments.

The vehicle has two advanced driver-assistance system (ADAS) options: Pilot Pro and Pilot Max, for added safety. While the latter also receives Lidar, the former, like Tesla, is based solely on vision.
