At the Shanghai auto show last year, Honda unveiled three electric SUV concepts. According to information obtained by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, two of the models, the E:NS2 and E:NP2, are expected to go on sale soon. With the exception of their lights and bumpers, the EV SUVs are nearly identical.

Honda E:NS2, E:NP2: design

Dongfeng and GAC will construct the E:NS2 and E:NP2, respectively, just like they did with the outgoing e:NS1 and e:NP1 EVs that are presently for sale in China. The E:NS2 and E:NP2, on the other hand, differ more from each other than the HR-V-based e:NS1 and e:NP1, which were identical but for the colour of their grille and charging port. While the e:NP2 closely resembles a modern Honda vehicle, such as the most recent Civic marketed worldwide, the e:NS2 has angular LED Daytime Running Lamps that are reminiscent of Peugeot vehicles.

The wide horizontal bars on the front and rear bumpers of both EV SUVs are a design feature that unites those sections and gives them the appearance of sophisticated air conditioners. Both versions have a more crossover-like appearance than an ordinary upright SUV thanks to the sloping rear roofline.

According to the MIIT files, Honda‘s new EV SUVs are powered by a 68.8kWh battery and a single motor that produces 204 horsepower. The specification sheet also shows that the two versions are similar in terms of wheelbase, width, and height (2,735 mm, 1,840 mm, and 1,570 mm, respectively), although they differ slightly in terms of overall length (1 mm), with the NP2 being longer.

Honda EVs for India

Regarding Honda’s plans to introduce these two models to India, nothing is known. Nonetheless, the nation is fully engaged in the Japanese company’s ACE (Asian Compact Electric) initiative, which will give rise to the Elevate-based EV. In preparation for the anticipated 2026 release of the Elevate-based EV in India, Honda has started retooling its Tapukara, Rajasthan, facility.
