The eVX, Maruti Suzuki’s first-ever all-electric car, was unveiled at the Noida Auto Expo last year. The company has been steadily pushing forward with the launch of this vehicle. Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation (SMC), reaffirmed at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024 that the eVX will be available at the Suzuki Gujarat facility by year’s end.

He went on to say that Suzuki has increased production capacity in order to fulfil demand, given that India has grown to be the world’s third-largest vehicle market. For the current fiscal year, Suzuki anticipates a 1.7-fold growth in car production and a 2.6-fold increase in export sales.

The president of Suzuki Motor declared during his speech at the summit that “by the end of this year, Suzuki Motor Gujarat will launch the first Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) from Suzuki Group.” “We intend to sell this model not only in India but also as an export to Japan and European nations,” he continued.

The battery, powertrain, and other essential parts will all be produced domestically, making this a true Made-in-India product. Because of its aggressive pricing, the eVX is expected to cause a disruption in the Indian market.

Maruti Suzuki said in December of last year that the eVX would go on sale in India in 2025. “Our first EV, an SUV, will be launched in the next financial year of 2024–2025,” Maruti Suzuki Executive Director (Corporate Affairs), Rahul Bharti reportedly stated in a media article. It will be produced at SMG’s Gujarat facility. There are currently three plants total within the Hansalpur SMG facility: plants A, B, and C. Now, a new plant, also known as a production line, will be added there to produce the EV.

A mid-size electric SUV with an upright and raised seating position is the eVX. This also leads to a roomy cabin, which is based on the recently developed skateboard platform. Maruti Suzuki reports that a 60kWh battery pack with a 550km driving range will power the EV SUV. Its measurements are 1,800 mm in width, 1,600 mm in height, and 4,300 mm in length.
