Manufacturers of electric vehicles in India would have increased access to Ather Grid, the company’s network of charging stations for electric vehicles. The producer of electric scooters, situated in Bengaluru, declared that it is open to assisting other EV manufacturers in implementing its electric vehicle charging connector.

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has just recognised Ather’s EV chargers as standard. As one of the leading producers of electric vehicles in the nation, the firm sold 9,344 units in November 2023. With its engineers continuously supporting other original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), Ather is willing to provide free assistance to other EV producers in an effort to hasten the adoption of EVs across the nation.

Ather’s success and future goals

Ather Energy now provides about 1,600 electric vehicle charging stations in India as part of its Ather Grid Network. Additionally, by March 2024, 2,500 EV chargers are expected to be installed. Nearly two years ago, the EV manufacturer allowed other OEMs to use its charging stations. The V1 Pro and V1 Plus are the two versions of Hero MotoCorp’s electric scooter Vida that were introduced to the domestic market. Hero MotoCorp was the first significant EV manufacturer to accept Ather’s offer when they launched these scooters and chose to use their EV charging network.

According to Mr. Ravneet S. Phokela, Chief Business Officer of Ather Energy, “Our engineers can come and work with your engineers so that you don’t have a steep learning curve.” The investments have already been made. We will assist you in adopting the technology we already know. S Ravneet.

Phokela added that the business will offer this service to clients and other EV manufacturers at no cost. “We don’t intend to charge for this… From a broader philosophical perspective, we shouldn’t want to outbid the infrastructure. We wish to work together to finish the car side and the charging side. Our goal is to expedite the harmonisation of the infrastructure for charging.

The BIS acknowledged the company’s EV chargers in October 2023, including the DC and AC mixed charging connectors. They are now accepted as the industry standard for light electric vehicles, electric two-wheelers, and microcars. Ather Energy now solely sells electric scooters throughout the nation. The Ather 450S and 450X are already available for purchase in India, and the company plans to shortly introduce the 450 Apex, the fastest model of e-scooter, as its third model.
