In Tokyo, Toyota debuted the Land Cruiser Se concept and the EPU concept, which hinted at a midsize pickup truck, at the just-ended Japan Mobility Show 2023. The Japanese automaker has been in the news a lot lately for its electric car concepts, and its home motoring exhibition was no exception, with ideas from many academic fields taking centre stage.

But the idea that drew the most attention was the Land Cruiser Se, which offers us a preview of what to expect should Toyota decide to move forward with developing an electric SUV with an off-road focus. The idea is supported to meet a variety of needs worldwide and features a crossover posture with a three-row seating layout.

Toyota Land Cruiser Features

Due to its well-known dependability, excellent off-road capabilities, adaptable design, high resale value, long history, powerful towing capacity, and status symbol appeal to a large number of buyers, the Toyota Land Cruiser trademark is well-known throughout many nations. The Toyota Land Cruiser Se concept, on the other hand, goes in a completely opposite direction and has a more contemporary flair.

The futuristic design concept is enhanced by the large wheels, angular styling elements, connected LED tail lamps, squared-off wheel arches, prominent character lines, black pillars creating a floating roof design, an upright front fascia with a full-width LED light bar, shut-off grille, sturdy skid plates at the front and rear, and a boxy tail section with Toyota lettering on the tailgate.

The idea used a monocoque platform rather than a ladder frame, which may annoy purists, but no technical information has been disclosed. Its lengthy wheelbase measures 3,050 mm, and its entire length is 5,150 mm. With a 102 mm longer wheelbase, it is 36 mm longer than the Grand Highlander.

According to Toyota, the Land Cruiser Se concept offers an urban-oriented suspension arrangement and strong torque driving performance. If it goes into production, it might be taken into consideration for developing markets like India, where the LC brand is very well-liked and the most recent LC300 model has also garnered positive reviews.
