Citroen has finally unveiled the eC3, an all-electric version of the C3 hatchback that is already available in India, with a price announcement expected in the coming days. Citroen will also export the eC3 from India, boosting sales volumes that have been disappointingly low.
Inside and out, the Citroen eC3 looks identical to its gasoline-powered counterpart. The only exterior differences are the absence of a tailpipe and the addition of a charging port on the front fender. Meanwhile, the interior receives a slightly revised centre console, as well as a new drive controller that replaces the manual gear lever. Other than the exterior body panels, interior, and mechanicals, which have already been localised for the petrol-powered C3, everything else remains the same.
Citroen eC3 gets a 29.2kWh battery pack sourced from Chinese firm Svolt, though Citroen hopes to localise it in the long run.
The Citroen EV has a 3.3kW onboard AC charger and is CCS2 fast charging capable. The front-axle-mounted electric motor on the eC3 produces 57hp and 143Nm of peak torque. The eC3 has a 320km ARAI-certified range. It comes with two driving modes, eco and standard, as well as regenerative braking.
Citroen claims that the eC3 can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.8 seconds and has a top speed of 107 mph. In terms of charging, it is compatible with DC Fast Charging and can charge from 10% to 80% in 57 minutes. On a home charger, the battery can be charged from 10% to 100% in 10.5 hours.
The Citroen eC3, like its petrol-powered counterpart, is available in two trim levels: Live and Feel. The eC3 has similar features to the ICE model, with the Feel getting a 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a four-speaker audio system, and a height-adjustable driver’s seat. The eC3 also has connected car technology, including the MyCitroen Connect app, which has 35 features. It allows you to check the charging status of your car, as well as navigate to the nearest charging station. In terms of safety, it has dual airbags and ABS with EBD.
