Ather Energy may be working on a more economical Ather 450 electric scooter model, as the terms “450S” and “Ather 450S” have been patented. The electric scooter could be a new lower-priced Ather 450 version, or it could be a new moniker for the recently announced lower-priced Ather 450X, which sits below the Ather 450X with the Pro Pack. The Ather 450 line competes in India’s luxury electric scooter sector with models such as the Ola S1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak, TVS iQube, and Vida V1. According to a freshly released document (via Rush Lane), Ather trademarked the names “Ather 450S” and “450S” in India.
Ather Energy’s new product might be positioned as a cheap option that caters to the lower end of the Indian electric scooter industry.
The new name, on the other hand, may be used in two ways to separate the product from others in the company’s portfolio. Ather Energy may release a completely new Ather 450X variant in a more inexpensive form, with a little smaller battery pack, fewer software capabilities, less new-age gadgetry, and so on.
However, Ather Energy may use this new trademarked nomenclature to rename the current base Ather 450X that does not have the Pro Pack. This could be done to make the nomenclature of the product lines more understandable to clients. Customers would only be able to access advanced software features if they upgraded to the higher-spec Ather 450X model with the Pro Pack, which might include support for faster charging and a portable charger.
