From 1944 to 1986, the Jeep Classic was in production. It was what made the current Wrangler possible. The Jeep Wrangler of today is the spiritual heir to the Jeep CJ Classic of the previous century. At the SEMA Show in 2022, the Classic Jeep SUV has now sort of made a reappearance.

At the SEMA Show 2022, the Jeep CJ Surge Concept is now on show. It was created by Mopar, a performance and accessories company that belongs to Stellantis. According to Mopar, this is a vision for upcoming propulsion systems for enthusiasts to convert both current and historic cars into electric vehicles. We deem the Jeep CJ Surge Concept to be a job well done after taking a closer look.

a massive V8 lump of an engine that can pull a cow and has a 7L or 8L displacement? No, actually. Contrary to many American products, this build has sensibility. This Jeep CJ Surge Concept is a battery-powered automobile. Its boot has a battery pack, while its hood houses special motor mounts (not calling it a bonnet, coz it is American).

In the long run, Mopar came up with a pretty smart idea with this one, and it needs to be put into production right away. The second-largest automotive market in the world is in America. In America, the culture of car modification is almost automatic. It’s not uncommon to purchase a historic car and install a Chevy LS1 engine or a motor identical to it.

The 400V scalable electric drive module for the Jeep CJ Surge Concept EV can produce 268 horsepower. This motor has a 2-speed transfer case with variable gearing to drive all 4 wheels.

This motor is powered by a battery pack made up of 24 Li-ion battery modules, each of which has a capacity of up to 50 kWh. Of course, it receives a 2″ lift-kit. We have Dana 44 Crate axles by Jeep Performance Parts to increase its versatility. Large 35″ BF Goodrich AT tyres give the Jeep CJ Surge Concept a lot of presence. Its donor Jeep’s core remains untouched, and Mopar has even improved it.

Bumpers from a Wrangler JK Rubicon, a Warn winch, LED headlamps, and more are seen. The interior is also updated, and a central console from a Wrangler JK Rubicon is used. This Jeep is properly vintage but still contemporary thanks to the addition of custom seats, a roll cage, and a trimmed windscreen. The Jeep CJ Surge Concept is easily recognisable as a Jeep from a distance thanks to its Surf Blue and Copper Canyon accents.

MG Air EV to launch in 2023: Should you be excited?

MG Air EV to launch in 2023: Should you be excited?

MG Motors have recently confirmed that they will launch their baby EV in India otherwise known as MG Air EV. Now, as we know, MG is also participating in the upcoming India Auto Expo 2023, so the final variant sold in India next year could also be up for the show.

Will be based on the Wuling Air EV sold in Indonesia

MG Motors already sells this Wuling Air EV in Indonesia and we don’t expect many changes to the design except rebranding/renaming before it hits the Indian market. This car will surely remind you of Tata Nano and comes with dimensions of 2,974 x 1,505 x 1,631 mm along with a 2,010 mm wheelbase. With a basic 12” steel wheel, this looks more usable than a fancy one but even with such short dimensions, the car can accommodate 4 people.

Wuling Air EV

Being even more compact than the best-selling hatchback in India i.e.e Maruti Suzuki Alto, this two-door EV has a boxy design with futuristic detailing that doesn’t make it look cheap by any sort. In Indonesia, this Wuling Air EV is offered in 5 color variants including Pristine White, Avocado Green, Lemon Yellow, Peach Pink and Galaxy Blue. So, with a wide range of funky colors, this rebadged MG Air EV could indeed be a good entry-level option for those who need a second car to roam around the city without having to worry about the petrol prices shooting up.

With leather-wrapped steering, and a dual 10.25-inch screen layout meant for both infotainment and instrument cluster, this doesn’t look cheap at all. A simple interior with a touch of futuristic compact design is what you can truly say about this MG Air EV, now, with important safety features like ESC, ABS, ISOFIX, rear parking sensor and camera, this is a fully-loaded modern-age compact EV. For more details visit the Wuling Air EV website.

MG Air EV: Engines Specs & Battery

MG’s Wuling Air EV is available in two variants in Indonesia – Standard Range and Long Range, the standard range comes with a 17.3 kWh battery with an IP67 rating providing a range of up to 200 Km. This battery charges up in 8.5 hours with a 2.0 kW AC charger while the Longe Range variant comes with a 26.7 kWh battery giving you a range of up to 300 Km and this variant can be fast charged in 4 hours with a 6.6 kW AC charger.

However, as per reports, this upcoming MG Air EV could provide a real-life range of up to 150 km which is quite good for an entry-level EV. This electric car features a single motor that provides 40hp and comes with a front-wheel-drive setup, while the battery used in this EV will be based on LFP cells that are similar to the one used in the TATA Nexon EV.

Expected Pricing & Availability

This MG Air EV will be based on the born-electric platform that helps to provide more space inside an otherwise small car but to keep costs down MG Motors has to develop this car in India itself. So, this MG Air EV could be localised up to 60% to reduce costs and save on import tax so that this upcoming EV could have a competitive price against the recently launched Tata Tiago EV.

As per widespread rumours, this upcoming MG Air EV could have a starting price close to Rs.10 lakh for the standard range variant. In terms of availability, we expect MG Motors to make it public as soon as January 2023 at Indian Auto Expo and make it available in the Indian market as soon as Q2 2023. Now, is it worth the wait or should you go for the Tiago EV? Well, this depends on your budget, style appeal and availability, however, we do suggest you at least wait until Auto Expo 2023 when a number of EVs will be shown and announced.

Toyota Innova Hycross design leaks online showing off a Panoramic Sunroof

Toyota Innova Hycross design leaks online showing off a Panaromic Sunroof

Toyota unveiled the Innova Hycross MPV’s first teaser image earlier this week. The Hycross is expected to be introduced next month for the Indonesian market, and a design patent for the vehicle has recently surfaced online, confirming the first-ever inclusion of a panoramic sunroof in an MPV.

The body-on-ladder construction will be replaced by the monocoque platform in the new-generation Toyota Innova Hycross. Additionally, a 2.0-liter petrol-hybrid powertrain that sends power to the front wheels will power the Hycross. The MPV will have a more pronounced front grille and sleeker LED headlamps in terms of outward appearance. Additionally, the bumpers will be modified to include a horizontal air inlet next to a triangle fog lamp housing.

Although there are currently few specifics available regarding the interior, we anticipate that it will include a larger infotainment system, a 360-degree camera, a wireless charger, and leatherette upholstery.

In India, testing of the Toyota Innova Hycross has also started; the vehicle is scheduled to go on sale soon.

The Innova Hycross will be built on Toyota’s modular TNGA-C monocoque platform and use front-wheel drive, which is a significant change from the ladder-frame foundation and rear-wheel drive configuration used in all previous Innova models. The Hycross will be able to achieve a flat floor at the back thanks to the monocoque architecture, which will free up additional room.

Similar to the Hyryder midsize SUV, the Innova Hycross will have two petrol engine choices: a naturally aspirated petrol and a petrol-hybrid unit. More significantly, the Innova Hycross won’t be available with a diesel engine, which again represents a significant change for its main target market.

The interior of the Hycross is unknown, although previous spy images showed a sizable floating touchscreen infotainment system. With features like a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, and even a “ottoman function” for the captain seats in the second row, it’s also anticipated to see an improvement in quality and equipment over the present model. Additionally, it will still be available in a variety of seating arrangements.

In Indonesia, where it will probably be known as the “Innova Zenix,” the Innova Hycross is anticipated to make its debut sometime in the second part of November 2022. By the beginning of next year, prices for the Innova Hycross in India should be announced. The Innova Crysta, which is only now offered with a petrol engine option, will be sold alongside it.

“GFC is one of the leading cleantech investors in India. Their solution-driven approach and the expertise they bring to the table made them an obvious match. We are grateful to GFC and many other early believers and angels for backing our vision of building in India to serve the world,” Gupta added.

0

It is reported that Royal Enfield is currently developing multiple electric vehicle prototypes and testing them both abroad and in India. The brand has recently accelerated its procedure and has been moving forward quickly in the industry. Royal Enfield just made a fresh job announcement for new employees to work at its technology centres in India and the UK.

Additionally, Royal Enfield is trialling a few distinct prototypes of electric vehicle models around the globe. Although the company is taking its time with any R&D phases, it anticipates releasing its first electric motorcycle by 2025.

According to the brand, the teams are not buying off-the-shelf generic electric kits but instead are creating a completely new product that fits in with other RE cars and will not only have amazing practicality and performance but also a comparable personality and level of dependability.

Additionally, Royal Enfield anticipates that one of its key international markets for electric products would be India. When compared to ICE vehicles, electric vehicles are currently thought to be much less expensive to operate. Sales of ICE vehicles in the nation are predicted to shortly suffer more from rising fuel prices and strict emissions regulations.

Several 650cc bikes that Royal Enfield is developing will shortly make their debut in the nation. These include the Super Meteor 650 and the forthcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 650. In addition, the brand-new Scrambler 650 was seen for the first time in the nation during testing. According to rumours, the Scrambler 650 will make its debut sometime in 2019.

Toyota teases its 3rd bZ-brand EV in India

0

The Japanese automaker hinted another EV that will be its third bZ-branded vehicle as it unveiled the Toyota bZ3 in the Chinese market. The EV has only received a single teaser photograph. While minute design elements are difficult to notice, it does appear to be a different form from the bZ3 and feature a hatchback-style trunk when viewed from the rear three-quarter position. Additionally sitting rather high, the rear decklid features a noticeable shark fin antenna.

There isn’t much information available about the design of this new model, but given the similarities between the Toyota bZ3 and bZ4X, we believe it is safe to assume that the third-generation bZ model’s front fascia will seem quite familiar.

Toyota
credit: team-bhp

This new car, like the bZ3, may have been created in collaboration with BYD of China and may use the sedan’s battery and motors. We don’t yet know those specifics, though, as Toyota has only announced that the bZ3 will be able to go more than 373 miles (600 km) on a single charge while showcasing the vehicle in its entirety.

Although the overall dimensions of the new model being teased is unknown, it might be somewhat larger or similar to the bZ3. Whatever the circumstances, having a tailgate in the hatchback design should enhance cargo capacity and make it a little more useful. We anticipate seeing the third bZ model in 2023, however Toyota has not specified when it would be revealed.
