Is Tata Punch EV launching soon?

Our sources told us that the Tata Punch EV was supposed to launch on December 21st, but we’ve since been informed that it might happen early in 2019. Similar rumours that stated the launch would take place in October or November have already been spotted by us. However, the launch was pushed back to settle Tiago EV’s outstanding orders. What can we anticipate from the Tata Punch EV’s launch date and timing?

The launch date of Tata Punch EV

Our sources claim that there were reports that Tata Motors would introduce the Punch on December 21st, but the company has not verified them. We were relieved that the date had been announced after a protracted wait, but we will all have to wait longer as there have been no confirmations.

Design of the Tata Punch EV

The Tata Punch EV will resemble the standard Punch since it is built on it. The test car’s spy photos did, however, highlight a few important details. First, like the latest Tata SUVs, the Punch EV will have linked LED daytime running lights.

Furthermore, the Punch will have a charging port located directly beneath the front grille. Although the Punch EV won’t alter on the outside, new alloy wheel designs are anticipated. A test mule was observed with a camera mounted on the ORVMs, suggesting the possibility of a 360-degree camera arrangement. Although the back was also observed, no obvious alterations were observed.

Features of the Tata Punch EV

The interiors will also mainly stay the same. Good fit and finish quality are already present in the Punch, and the EV version should also have these qualities. Tata might, however, include a few extra features on the EV. For example, the 10.25-inch touchscreen display that was previously seen in a test vehicle will probably be installed in the Punch EV. There might be other modifications, such as a new digital instrument cluster.

It would be intriguing if Tata Motors offered the Nexon’s illuminated steering wheel, however we are not positive at this point. For the interior, we may anticipate a lighter shade, and the Punch EV will have distinct Personas, exactly like all other Tata SUVs. On the higher variations, further anticipated features include leatherette upholstery, 45W type C charging connections, all-4 disc brakes, a 360-degree camera, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, and six airbags.

Battery details of the Tata Punch EV

Tata will probably stick with the LFP batteries that are found in other Tata electric vehicles. A single 26–30 kWh battery pack, which will weigh less than the Nexon’s battery pack, may be shown. Thus, a longer range for the Punch EV is to be expected. Additionally, the Punch EV’s Gen 2 electric motors will be lighter and more effective. The Punch EV’s torque output will be limited, though. In general, we anticipate a real-world range of 250 km and a claimed range of 330–350 km.

Therefore, if the reports are true this time, the Punch EV launch might take place in the first part of 2024. Price announcements are likely to occur a few days following the unveiling ceremony. All things considered, we estimate that it would cost between Rs 13.5 lakh and Rs 17 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
