The government of Rajasthan has made a big step in encouraging the use of EV by reintroducing a 200 crore rupee subsidy and offering a 100% Goods and Services Tax (GST) refund for Electric vehicle purchases. This program intends to alleviate the backlog of refunds that has left some 50,000 Electric Vehicle owners awaiting their reimbursements in addition to encouraging more locals to transition to EV.
A full refund of the state GST levied on Electric Vehicle would be given to those that qualify for incentives. A certain amount of payment would be given to all types of electric vehicles. Electric vehicle registered since September 1, 2022, are eligible for government reimbursement. Up to a specific amount, the department would issue this return on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rajasthan Government initiative against EV Subsidy
The subsidy, which has a 200 crore overall cost, provides special incentives for electric buses, electric two-wheelers, electric three-wheelers, and electric four-wheelers. Electric two-wheelers are eligible for a subsidy of Rs 4,000 to 10,000, e-rickshaws and e-carts for Rs 4,000 to 20,000, electric four-wheelers for Rs 3,000 to 50,000, and e-buses for Rs 1,00,000 to Rs 5,00,000.
About 1 lakh two-wheelers, 50,000 e-carts, 50,000 e-autos, rickshaws, 7,000 electric automobiles, 500 e-buses, and roughly 7,000 modified vehicles in the state will all receive this subsidy. This would also apply to the 15,000 residents of Ajmer who own electric vehicles. The government has already given the grant money to the Rajasthan State Transport Department, which will soon begin distributing it.
Even though the subsidy amount has already been collected, the SOP has not yet been issued. The state transport agency will start issuing the SOP as soon as it is approved, and eventually, it will be sent to the resident Electric vehicle owners.
