Hero Surge S32 is making waves once more after making its debut earlier this year and taking home numerous design honors. This time, the business plans to start producing S32 in less than a year. Additionally, there are rumors that a launch could take place in the middle of 2025. The exclusive Hero Surge S32 can change from a 2W to a 3W in less than three minutes and with little effort on any road.

A few cutting-edge items from various markets and genres have been introduced by the Indian automotive industry. The Surge S32 2-in-1 electric scooter-cum-rickshaw is one of the most intriguing. This ground-breaking innovation was developed by Surge, a startup owned by Hero MotoCorp, a 2W powerhouse.

Hero Surge S32 Production Will Soon Begin: All You Need to Know

In addition to private passenger automobiles, there are commercial vehicles. Few brands have attempted to integrate these two elements. In an attempt to close the gap between CVs and PVs in the lower price range, Eicher Polaris Multix was introduced a few years ago. It didn’t catch on, though. Hero MotoCorp is currently attempting to close the gap between PVs and CVs, but with a distinct approach. Hero has created a new experience for users by fusing an electric scooter with a three-wheeled electric rickshaw through their Surge EV subsidiary.

The Surge S32 will shortly begin serial production. Surge S32 may come in a variety of forms. A 3W flat-bed 3W cargo vehicle (S32 FB), a 3W covered cargo vehicle (S32 HD), a 3W auto rickshaw (S32 PV), and a 3W cargo vehicle (S32 LD). The scooter portion stays the same in each of these iterations, while the rickshaw portion varies correspondingly. This is the first attempt by an OEM to incorporate both a 2W and a 3W into a single device.

Therefore, it requires a unique category, which Hero and Surge have developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The L2-5 is a type of 2W-3W combi module in which a non-self-propelled rear module is attached to an L2 scooter. The AMSEP platform, which is built around a ladder-frame chassis, serves as the foundation for the Surge S32. The system automatically alternates between the scooter’s and the non-self-propelled rear module’s independent powertrains based on the vehicle being used. It should be mentioned that the scooter serves as the rear non-self-propelled module’s front wheel.

According to Surge EV, switching from 2W to 3W is smooth, requires little to no work, takes less than three minutes, and can be completed anywhere. The firm guarantees a full-metal body and a safe and dependable battery. The instrumentation of the scooter is converted to that of the Rickshaw, while the Rickshaw gains additional switches of its own. This novel approach’s primary use case is to give users a flexible vehicle for a variety of functions. Using 3W mode to move people or goods could be one’s daily bread. Leaving the commercial aspects behind, it might also be used as a personal mode of transportation or as a last-mile delivery vehicle in 2W mode.
