Ford Motor Company CEO Jim Farley stated on “The Fully Charged Podcast” that he has been driving the Xiaomi Speed Ultra 7, the Chinese company’s first electric car, for the last six months. He commended the car and its maker, Xiaomi, although stating that he prefers not to discuss the competition. The CEO of one of the largest automakers Ford in America has been enjoying driving a Chinese car for the past six months. “We flew one from Shanghai to Chicago, and I’ve been driving it for six months now,” Farley said. “And I don’t want to give it up.”
Among other digital items, Xiaomi, a Beijing-based business, is well-known in China for its smartphones, smartwatches, and headphones. However, the business entered the automotive sector in December 2023 when it unveiled the Xiaomi Speed Ultra 7, a high-end EV vehicle that costs roughly $30,000 (the equivalent of a Nissan Leaf) and is only offered in China.

The Xiaomi SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max are the three types of the vehicle; the MAX can go over 500 miles between charges. The Tesla Model S, in contrast, has a range of roughly 400 miles between charges. It is unknown which model Farley has been operating. However, it’s evident that the CEO gave his Chinese rival a lot of credit for their business practices and the SU7’s obvious success after its March official introduction.
It’s amazing. Every month, they sell 10,000 to 20,000. For six months, they’re sold out,” Farley stated. “That is a consumer brand that is far more powerful than automakers and an industry titan.”
