Tata Nexon EV Burning Case: Court Orders ₹ 19.55 Lakh in Settlement

In this country, the popularity of electric vehicles has increased; yet, some owners have had unpleasant experiences with electric automobiles. A Tata Nexon that caught fire was one such occurrence that was reported from Hyderabad the previous year. Mr. Jonathan Brainard, the vehicle’s owner, contacted Hyderabad’s district consumer complaints redressal commission in an attempt to get a complete reimbursement of the amount he spent on the electric SUV. Tata Motors is now required by the court to pay the plaintiff in 2024.

The Tata Nexon Settlement!

The court has ordered Tata Motors to reimburse the entire sum of money paid—Rs 16.95 lakh—along with nine percent interest. Furthermore, the electric SUV owner would have to pay Tata Motors ₹ 10,000 in order to register the court complaint. Finally, the carmaker will have to pay ₹ 2.50 lakh to compensate the owner and the injured biker for the emotional anguish they endured during the occurrence.

What The Owner Has To Say:

The owner claims that although the Tata Nexon EV first provided a somewhat positive ownership experience, the SUV began to have problems within the first 11 months of being purchased. Brainard stated that even with an 18% state of charge, the vehicle would not start. Additionally, switching between driving modes will occasionally become almost impossible. The owner was later given the option of replacing the battery, but the new battery pack that was delivered to him had been refurbished. The car caught fire 12 days after the replacement battery was installed.
