Porsche Taycan recall: Every unit sold is impacted Worldwide

Porsche has issued a recall notice for 31,689 of its Taycan electric cars worldwide, covering models from 2020 to 2025. The recall is related to a potential problem with the front brake line that could limit the vehicle’s ability to brake. Porsche’s 2019 all-electric sports car, the Taycan, was a major advancement in the company’s electric vehicle venture. More than 150,000 Taycans have been sold worldwide since its launch, indicating strong sales. It has, however, seen a number of recalls resolving various faults, similar to many new models.

Porsche releases a fresh Taycan recall

In 2019, Porsche unveiled the Taycan, their first electrified sports vehicle. The company has sold more than 150,000 units worldwide since then.

Although the Taycan was successful at first, there have been a few small recalls. A defective charging cord prompted the recall of more than 41,000 Taycan models in December of last year. Meanwhile, a possible short circuit within battery modules led to the recall of several hundred devices in March.

This week, Porsche announced the most recent Taycan recall affecting specific 2020–2025 vehicles. According to the letter, these cars’ front hoses have a tendency to crack over time and spill brake fluid. Porsche’s letter to the NHTSA states that 31,689 Taycan cars are affected by the recall. Following multiple reports of brake hose leaks, the company launched an inquiry.

Out of an excess of caution, Porsche is releasing the recall even though there haven’t been any incidents reported in the US. There was one reported accident abroad, but the car was going “significantly” over the speed limit. The vehicle was driving in a 30 km/h zone at roughly 120 km/h, according to the report.

For free, dealers will install a new, more flexible front brake hose to lighten the weight. On July 3, 2024, owner notification letters are anticipated to be sent out.

Porsche, meanwhile, unveiled the redesigned 2025 Taycan model in February, bringing with it greater acceleration, faster charging, and longer range than before.

Porsche debuted its quickest street-legal car, the Taycan Turbo GT, the following month. Similar to the Tesla Model S, the 1,092 horsepower electric sports car can accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 2.1 seconds.
