VW India First EV ID.4 will be released by the end of the year

As part of its global ambitions to achieve mass electrification, German automaker Volkswagen will begin its electrification journey in India later this year with the introduction of its ID.4.

The company, which just debuted the ID.4, anticipates that the Indian passenger vehicle industry will expand by 5-7 percent this year, while it hopes to increase by 10-15 percent. He stated that VW is leading the way in the electrification process globally and that the company is continuing its efforts in a number of areas as part of its commitment to the Paris Climate Agreement 2030, such as the development of charging infrastructure, which is essential to the acceptance of electric vehicles, battery recycling, digitalization, and connectivity solutions.

According to Mayer, the firm targets various client segments with its range of goods, which range from ID.2 to ID.Buzz. Additionally, the company reports that VW’s electric vehicle (EV) sales climbed by 21% globally in 2023, reaching around 4 lakh units.

About Volkswagen ID.4 EV

One of the brand’s best-selling EVs in the globe market, the ID.4 is available in several trim levels and is positioned below the ID.3 hatchback in the global lineup. This will be Volkswagen’s first battery-electric vehicle available for purchase in India. VW first unveiled the ID.4 GTX in India in 2023 during their yearly brand conference. The ID.4 is available worldwide in single- and dual-motor configurations.

Top-of-the-line, dual-motor, all-wheel-drive model with larger 77 kWh battery pack generates 330 hp, while single-motor version with smaller 58 kWh battery pack produces 201 hp. With all-wheel drive, the larger 77 kWh battery pack provides an EPA-certified range of 410 km, while with rear-wheel drive, it gives 442 km. The models with the smaller 55 kWh battery pack, on the other hand, offer a 336 km range.
