Renault 5 EV Production-Spec Leaked Before Debut

Photos of the production-ready Renault 5 EV have surfaced online, following the example set by its leaked patent design. The vehicle will make its public debut on February 26 at the 2024 Geneva Motor Show, but these leaked photos offer a sneak peek at it first. It provides a thorough look at the all-electric hatchback’s outside and inside, and these pictures suggest that the car’s design hasn’t changed much from the initial idea that was shown back in 2021.

Features of the Production-Spec Renault 5 EV

First off, the outside has been modified with a wider air inlet in the front bumper to help cool the electrical components and significantly reworked headlight surrounds with chunky LED blocks. Traditional pull-style front door handles have taken the place of the flush-sitting ones. The charging port is positioned close to the front wheel arches as well.

Regarding the interior, the Renault 5 EV‘s cabin is clearly visible in the leaked photos. The center console is topped by a sizable infotainment screen, under which are horizontal air vents. The center console has few physical buttons and a simple design.

The gear lever is located on the steering wheel column, and the steering wheel has a variety of function controls. The fabric and color scheme of the seats and door inserts match the vivid exterior coloring. The center console gains a lot of room as a result. Additionally, it looks like the infotainment screen and the digital instrument cluster are separated by the push-button start. On the co-driver side of the dashboard, there is also a distinctive vertical stitched pattern.

Performance-wise, the Renault 5 EV is scheduled to go on sale with a front-mounted e-motor powered by a 52kWh battery pack, which according to WLTP testing should provide an estimated 400 kilometers of range on a full charge. The electric hatchback, which was constructed on the company’s AmpR Small platform (formerly CMF-B-EV), boasts a multi-link rear axle, a technological advancement that is supposedly exclusive to B-segment electric vehicles.
