In 2024, Huawei’s next electric vehicle brand, STELATO, will launch an electric sedan

The first product of yet another partnership between Huawei and an automaker, BAIC BJEV, is about to be unveiled. In the first half of 2024, a roomy all-electric car is expected to make its debut. Insiders at BAIC BJEV revealed details about the first car produced as part of the partnership: a medium-to-large all-electric sedan. The new energy vehicle arm of BAIC and tech giant Huawei collaborated to create the prototype, which seems ready for its public debut.

Yu Chengdong, the managing director of Huawei, recently said that the company has extended its electric reach to four automobile partners: Seres, Chery, BAIC BJEV, and JAC. Every partnership produces something different; examples include the AITO M9 with Seres, the Luxeed S7 with Chery, the C-class pure electric smart car with BAIC BJEV, and the luxury MPV with JAC.

Latest updates about Huawei’s “STELATO”

The news that the company had transferred several “STELATO” trademarks to BAIC BJEV was brought to the attention of the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). While the company has not yet revealed the official Chinese name for the brand, STELATO appears to be a play on the Italian term “stellato,” which means “starry.”

Yu Chengdong said that the joint venture’s model internally codenamed X4, has an expected price tag of RMB 300,000 – 400,000 (€39,400 – €52,600) during the Luxeed S7 press conference. BAIC BJEV assumes responsibility for managing production and supplying the vehicle platform in accordance with AITO’s business model. In the meantime, Huawei is leading the charge on product definition, opening the door for the car to eventually go through Huawei’s sales channels.

The relationship with JAC is expanding along with the wheels of collaboration. The first product of Huawei and JAC, codenamed X6, is getting ready for a fourth-quarter 2024 introduction. Concurrently, this collaboration is developing an MPV vehicle, which is expected to be released in 2025.
