Hyundai EV is giving new EV owners free home chargers and installation discounts

Hyundai’s new offer might be helpful to you if you were putting off buying an EV because you didn’t know how to get a home charger installed. With the purchase or leasing of some Hyundai EVs, the automaker is now providing a free home electric vehicle charger in addition to up to $600 off the installation fee.

The ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 charger is available from Hyundai through the Hyundai Home Marketplace. The charger can accommodate up to 50 amps and is currently offered on the internet for $549. This means that you might obtain about 37 miles of driving range every hour of charging. Services bought through Hyundai’s website are the only ones eligible for the additional $600 installation rebate.

How can you qualify for this offer from Hyundai EV?

You must perform the following steps in order to be eligible for the deal:

  • Between September 21 and October 31, 2023, use Hyundai Motor Finance to buy or lease one of the following models from a participating dealership: 2023/ 2024 Hyundai Ioniq 5, 2023/ 2024 Ioniq 6, or 2023 Kona EV.
  • Within seven to ten days after your purchase or lease, Hyundai Motor Finance will email you a promotional code.
  • Enter the promo code, choose the charger, schedule installation, and go to hyundaihomemarketplace.com.
  • To make sure it is completed, keep in touch with Hyundai’s energy advisor during the ordering and installation processes. (They’ll likely also sell you batteries and solar panels.)

You must comply with additional conditions set forth by Hyundai EV for the offer to be valid. You must utilize installers provided by Hyundai, schedule installation within 90 days of the purchase or lease contract’s start date, and the installation must be on residential premises.

Additionally, if you were expecting to receive the free charger but forgo installation because you love doing things yourself at home, you’re out of luck because Hyundai EV will only provide the free charger if you use their installation service. Overall, the biggest advantage of this deal is that you will really have a convenient means to charge at home rather than having to find out how to do so after receiving your new EV.

Finding a way to charge the car is one of the most difficult challenges to EV adoption. Installation of an EV charger is typically not too difficult if your home has a driveway or garage. Additionally, it’s the most practical because you can always wake up to a car that is completely fueled. Apartment tenants face greater challenges because the landlord is required to provide equipment, so this offer is useless in your situation. Hyundai EV does provide new EV owners with two years of free Electrify America charging, though.
