Fisker Ocean electric SUV all set for India debut in 2023

According to Fisker Inc., a limited edition of the Fisker Ocean electric SUV will soon be available in India. The top-spec Extreme version of the Ocean electric SUV, which was launched in March, will be released by the California-based electric vehicle manufacturer in India. It will, however, only be offered in a small number of units.

In India, the business established its main office in Hyderabad in April. The new model, the Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition, would be called after the Hyderabad corporate office. The Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition will arrive in India in a total of 100 units by September, the business claims and deliveries will start by the fourth quarter of 2023.

The Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition

The Ocean Electric SUV features recycled rubber in numerous components, a solar panel on the roof, and recycled carpets manufactured from regenerated nylon inside. Three driving modes, called Earth, Fun, and Hyper, are included with the SUV. The SUV’s 17.1-inch rotating touchscreen entertainment system, digital rear-view mirror, motorised tailgate, 3D surround sound system, and front and rear heated seats are some of its standout features. It has 360-degree cameras and ADAS technologies for safety.

The Fisker Ocean EV SUV is fueled by a 113kWh battery pack along with dual electric motors which generate 572hp and 737Nm. The motor is said to have a sprint time from 0 to 100 kph of under 4 seconds. According to the WLTP cycle, it will have a range of 707 kilometres on a single charge. The claimed range of any SUV currently on sale in Europe is the highest.

Cost of the Fisker Ocean Extreme Vigyan Edition in India

According to Fisker, it will make an effort to match Ocean Extreme costs in India with those in Europe. For comparison, the Fisker Ocean Extreme costs €69,950 in Germany, which is about equivalent to Rs 64.5 lakh, but that is before import duties and shipping costs. Due to the fact that it would be a full import, pricing could rise far above Rs 1 million, placing it with other high-end SUVs like the BMW iX, Audi e-tron, and Jaguar i-Pace.

Nevertheless, the business had previously thought of establishing a battery and vehicle assembly plant in India, given enough cooperation from the government. The company may be exploring potential opportunities in India, as chairman and CEO Henrik Fisker stated, “India offers exciting opportunities for us, and we plan to grow our brand rapidly over the coming years.”
