Mahindra XUV.e8 design’s patent leaked

It is well known that Mahindra is developing an electric version of the XUV700 SUV. In August of last year, the XUV.e8 concept model was unveiled. Now, a leaked design patent has revealed the production-spec XUV.e8’s style, indicating that it won’t veer too far from the original idea. Let’s look more closely.

What does the design patent for the Mahindra XUV.e8 show?

The production-spec XUV.e8 will have almost all of the same body panels as the concept model, making it quite similar to the existing XUV700, according to the leaked patent photograph. The elaborate paintwork is the only thing that the concept is missing.

This EV will stand out because of a completely new front that features a full-width LED light bar that spans the nose and drops down vertically into the bumper. It will have a totally closed-off grille, as is common for electric vehicles, and new triangle headlamps will be mounted inside the bumper. With flush door handles, the same character lines, and an identical glasshouse, it looks remarkably similar to the XUV700 from the front, albeit it will have new aerodynamic wheels. Although the back is not visible in this image, the XUV.e8 concept carried over the design of the standard XUV700, thus the production-spec variant can also be anticipated to look the same.

The glasshouse, the headlight surrounds, the bumper inserts, and of course the dual peak Mahindra emblem are all highlighted in copper in this shot. Like the already-on-sale XUV400, the copper highlight is going to be a distinguishing feature on Mahindra’s next electric vehicles.

The rest of the automaker’s future EVs, the XUV.e9 and the BE range, may not stray too far from their respective ideas, according to this patent illustration. In fact, when the BE.05 was recently spotted testing for the first time on our roads, we also noticed that about it.

XUV.e8 by Mahindra: what more do we know?

The XUV.e8, which shares a similar shape and three rows of seats with the XUV700 theoretically, will be based on Mahindra’s born-electric INGLO skateboard platform. The XUV.e8 will have dimensions of 4,740mm in length, 1,900mm in width, 1,760mm in height, and 2,762mm for its wheelbase. In comparison to the XUV700, it will be 45mm longer, 10mm wider, and 5mm taller, although the wheelbase will only increase by 7mm.

The XUV.e8 will have an all-wheel drive system, and Mahindra has previously stated that the battery pack’s capacity will go up to 80 kWh. Power outputs will range from 230 horsepower to more than 350 horsepower. By December 2024, the XUV.e8, the first of several future Mahindra EVs, will be available for purchase.
