BMW Sports EV: In this article, we will talk about the BMW sports EVs and e-SUVs that the company is offering. And to start off the list first we have the fasted EV currently offered by BMW.
BMW i7 – BMW sports EV and E-SUVs
The BMW i7 has been introduced in India in the xDrive60 variant. It was launched on January 7, 2023. The i7 is powered by a floor-placed 101.7kWh battery pack, delivering 536bhp and 744Nm of peak torque. It boasts a zero to 100kmph sprint time of 4.7 seconds and has a limited top speed of 239kmph. The i7 supports various charging options, including an 11kW AC charger and a 195kW DC charger.
The BMW i7’s external design and aesthetics are comparable to the new 7 Series, which features a large iconic front grille that has been expanded vertically. This is flanked by new split headlamps, a new door handle design, and smaller split tail lamps. The i7 distinguishes itself from the normal 7 Series with blue accents on the front and rear bumpers, as well as side skirts that underline its EV identity.
The BMW i7’s cabin is a tech paradise, with up to five screens. A 12.3-inch fully digital driver’s display and a 14.9-inch centre display sit above the dashboard. Having said that, the steering wheel and gear selector are both new designs. The rear seat, on the other hand, is the place to be because it features a giant 31.3-inch 8k touchscreen with built-in Amazon Fire TV and a Bowers & Wilkins stereo system. If that isn’t enough, there are two 5.5-inch colour displays built into both back doors. These can be used to operate the audio system, climate control, ambient lighting, and seat adjustments.

Next up we have the BMW i4 is available in the eDrive 40 variant. It was launched in India on May 26, 2022. The i4 is equipped with an 83.9kWh battery pack, generating 335bhp and 430Nm of torque. It can accelerate from 0-100kmph in 5.7 seconds and offers a WLTP-certified range of 590km on a single charge. Charging options for the i4 include a 205kW CCS2 (DC) charger, an 11kW Type 2 (AC) charger, and an 11kW wall-box charger.
The BMW i4 has LED headlamps, LED DRLs, LED tail lights, and 17-inch aerodynamically designed alloy wheels on the outside. The 4 Series’ general design is identical to that of its ICE sister. The BMW i4 has three drive modes (Comfort, EcoPro, and Sport), ambient lighting, sport seats for the driver and co-passenger, three-zone climate control, an electric sunroof, a three-spoke steering wheel, a 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster, a 14.9-inch curved display infotainment system, a Harman Kardon-sourced surround sound music system, park assistant, wireless charging, and an engine start-stop button. Interior upholstery colours include beige, black, and cognac.
The BMW i4 price ranges from Rs. 73.88 Lakh to Rs. 77.50 Lakh (Avg. ex-showroom). The i4 is available in two models. The base variant of the i4 in electric costs Rs. 73.88 Lakh. The price of the i4 automatic version starts at Rs. 73.88 Lakh.
BMW iX – BMW sports EV and E-SUVs
Finally we have the lastest line of electric vehicles to India which BMW is bringing to India. The iX will be available in India in the first quarter of 2022. The iX includes all of the standard features that one would expect in a car of this class, segment, and price range. Multi-zone climate control, dual full HD digital displays, leather interior, panoramic sunroof, frameless windows, parking assist plus, head-up display, virtual assistant, and wireless charging are among the features available. There are eight airbags, a stability programme, ISOFIX child seat mounting points, TPMS, as well as BMW’s Active Protect Assist and Driving Assist.
The iX in this xDrive40 is powered by two electric motors that create 321.5bhp/630Nm and are coupled to a single-speed gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels. The xDrive is largely a RWD system, with the front receiving power only when conditions are poor. You receive a 76.6kwh battery pack with a WLTP range of 425km and the opportunity to use a charging station capable of up to 150 kW. BMW claims that charging at this level can restore a range of 95 kilometres in just 10 minutes.
The battle for premium EVs has now begun in earnest. Mercedes debuted the EQC in 2020, followed by Jaguar’s i-pace, Audi’s e-tron earlier this year, and now BMW’s iX. It’s an all-electric SUV (as one would assume in this day and age), and it’s also our first look at the BMW lineup of the future.
