Hyundai Kona EV has been spotted in public

Hyundai has been diligently working on the highly anticipated new Hyundai Kona EV for quite some time. While the small electric crossover has already been unveiled, it is yet to make its way to dealerships. However, a recent online video has surfaced, revealing the fully uncovered Hyundai Kona EV in all its glory as it cruises down a Southern California highway.

This public sighting marks the first time the revamped Hyundai Kona EV has been seen by the general public. The electric crossover made its global debut towards the end of last year and later appeared at the New York Auto Show in April this year. The recently released video provides a fantastic opportunity to see the Hyundai Kona EV beyond staged photo shoots, giving us a better understanding of its proportions and stylish elements.

In terms of design, the Hyundai Kona EV boasts body-colored trim over the wheel arches, which adds a touch of visual appeal and lends a broader profile to the vehicle. Notably, there’s been some controversy surrounding the rear clip, featuring a high-positioned tailgate-spanning reflector. Additionally, the chunky taillights have been positioned lower on the new Hyundai Kona EV.

It is equipped with a 48.6 kWh battery pack, providing an estimated range of 317 kilometers on a single charge. For those seeking even greater range, there’s an optional larger and more powerful 64.8 kWh battery pack, extending the Kona EV’s range to approximately 418 kilometers. Power is delivered to the front wheels, as an all-wheel-drive variant is not currently offered.

It’s worth noting that the Kona EV incorporates 400V fast charging technology, allowing the battery to be replenished from 10 to 80 percent in just 43 minutes. With its refreshed design and improved specifications, the upcoming Hyundai Kona EV promises to be an exciting addition to the electric crossover market, expanding the options for environmentally conscious consumers.
