Tata Sierra EV: Here are all the details of the new EV coming from Tata Motors

At the Auto Expo 2023, Tata Sierra EV was resurrected by Tata which stunned everyone. The electric SUV concept, which is reminiscent of the 1990s original Tata Sierra in design, has been unveiled. The two-door Tata Sierra was among India’s most dependable vehicles in the 1990s.

It was abandoned in 2003 and has just been reintroduced with updated features. The Tata Sierra EV had previously been displayed with three doors at the Auto Expo 2020, but this time it had been upgraded and was seen with five doors, dual-tone alloy wheels, and many other features.

Even though it may be a tribute to a vintage automobile, the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture, which serves as the foundation for the new Altroz hatchback, makes it thoroughly modern on the inside. Since the architecture is adaptable, it can accommodate various body types like SUVs, hatchbacks, and sedans. The company has modified the height of the bonnet while maintaining the legacy of the Sierra, which was characterised by a large glasshouse and opaque C and D pillars. The SUV is distinguished by its new grille, which connects the headlights to the chrome stripe.

The Tata Sierra EV concept has sleek LED headlamps and an LED DRL that runs across the bonnet, giving it a very futuristic appearance. Also included are dual-tone bumpers. It has sleek LED taillights at the back that span the tailgate. Additionally, the taillamps subtly bear the “Sierra” logo, and the bumpers are two-tone. The 235/55-section R20 tyres and the futuristic, quirky alloy wheels in silver and black are fitted to the Tata Sierra.

The Tata Sierra EV will have two seating options inside, including a four-seat “lounge” model and a five-seater with a boot space and a bench seat in the back. The Sierra EV will come with three different screen sizes.

Tata Motors describes the lounge version’s layout as “business-class,” and it is packaged with chauffeur-driven passengers in mind so that you won’t feel as though you are riding in a 4.3-meter vehicle but rather one that is 4.5 or 4.6 metres long.

The Sierra EV concept’s two-tone colour scheme, along with its futuristic interior design, add to its overall futuristic appearance. One example of its futuristic styling is the airline-style chairs and the complete absence of buttons and dials in favour of screens. Even though the production SUV will likely have the same floating touchscreen, ambient lighting, and layered dashboard design, most of the features will probably be operated by physical HVAC controls and buttons.

Since Tata has a reputation for aggressive pricing, we can anticipate that the Tata Sierra EV SUV will likely retail for between Rs 20 and Rs 25 lakh. Tata will offer an EV and a turbo-petrol powertrain for the Sierra, which will be built on the same Gen 2 platform as the Harrier EV. A Ziptron EV powertrain with a range of more than 450–500 km on a single charge may be installed in the Tata Sierra EV.
