Renault 5 EV: All features revealed ahead of its release

0

Renault has made known all information regarding the upcoming Renault 5 EV prior to its 2024 release. The Renault 5 EV will be the French automaker’s first model to use the CMF-B EV platform. It is being created especially for electric B-segment vehicles in Europe.

An updated version of the iconic Renault 5 hatchback, which was first presented in 1972, will be called the Renault 5 EV. With a boxy shape and rounded headlights, the new EV will have a retro-inspired design. It will be constructed on Renault’s brand-new, specially created CMF-BEV platform for electric vehicles. Compared to the ZOE, the new full-electric platform’s manufacturing costs are 30% lower.

The battery pack’s capacity is unknown, but it will be divided into four sizable modules and rated at 400 volts. Fast charging is supported by the Renault 5 EV, with a maximum charging rate of about 130 kW. As a result, the car will be able to charge from 0% to 80% in about 30 minutes.

Renault has not yet announced the price or availability of the Renault 5 EV, but it is expected to be released in Europe in 2024.

“The new CMF-B EV platform is a great opportunity from a ‘product’ point of view because it means the future electric Renault 5 will boast real driving pleasure while remaining very competitive for its segment” said Delphine De Andria, B-EV Segment Product Performance Director.

Renault has constructed the first nine prototypes and has begun conducting global testing on them. While other tests are being carried out on personal test tracks, cold-weather tests are being carried out in Arvidsjaur, a Swedish town south of the Arctic Circle. The production version of The 5 will make its debut in 2024.
