Tata Motors will soon start selling their EVs via exclusive Dealership Only

The biggest producer of electric vehicles (EVs) in the nation right now is Tata Motors. The company intends to set up a separate sales channel for its EV lineup, which includes the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV, in light of the rising demand for EVs. The automaker will initially set up 10 outlets in 10 significant tier-2 cities. This choice was made with the intention of doubling the sales of e-PVs (from 100,000 to 110,000) in the fiscal year 2024.

In the NCR region, Tata Motors is expected to open its first showroom specifically for electric vehicles. According to estimates, the company will spend between Rs 95 lakh and Rs 1 crore on each dealership, which can be as large as 6,000–7,000 square feet. Tata dealers will start charging different companies for EVs and ICE (internal combustion engine) models. Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TPEM) will be the name given to the Tata electric vehicles, while Tata Passenger Vehicles will be the name given to the petrol and diesel models.

Until the separate sales channels are operational, there will be a separate EV and ICE billing arrangement from Tata Motors.

Tata dealers need separate funding for both of their businesses’ inventories. With a market share of more than 70%, Tata Motors is the market leader in the electric four-wheeler market. Compared to 2,926 units sold in the same month last year, the company sold 2,426 EVs in total in January 2023.

The domestic automaker has several new electric cars and SUVs in the works that will hit the market in the upcoming years. The Tata Punch EV is anticipated to go on sale at the end of this year. It will be constructed using the Gen 2 architecture, a greatly modified version of the Alfa platform. The small electric SUV will feature Tata Motors Ziptron technology and probably have a 300-350 km range. The Harrier and Safari SUVs will also be available in electric form, according to the company. Both electric and ICE powertrain options will be offered for the SUVs based on the Curvv and Sierra concepts.
