Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus to soon make its way to India

Gogoro, the biggest supplier of EV battery swapping infrastructure in Taiwan, has ambitious plans for the Indian market. It already has agreements in place with numerous organisations in India, including Hero MotoCorp. According to the most recent information, Gogoro will soon introduce its electric scooters Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus in India. Both scooters have received homologation in India, with the Central Institute of Road Transport’s endorsement and certification (CIRT). Gogoro also lists the SuperSport model on its Indian website.

It measures 1,890 mm long, 670 mm wide, and 1,110 mm tall for Gogoro 2 and Gogoro 2 Plus. 1,295 mm is the wheelbase. Both models come with a lithium-ion battery pack and have a gross vehicle weight of 273 kg. According to the type approval certificate, Taiwan is where the units were made. Gogoro 2 has different technical specifications and a range of 85 km. Gogoro 2 Plus, in contrast, has a 94 km range. For Gogoro 2 and the Plus version, the electrical energy consumption is 41 and 44 Wh/km, respectively. Maximum power ratings for 30 minutes are 7.2 kW and 6.4 kW, respectively. Both variants’ top speed is listed at 87 kmph.

These specifications differ in some ways from those listed on the business’ India website. For instance, the website lists the combined range of both scooters as 170 km. It’s possible that homologation was performed using a single battery configuration. Additionally, Gogoro could have made some adjustments in accordance with local riding requirements.

Design-wise, the Gogoro 2 electric scooter is straightforward and minimalist, with a focus on comfort and practicality.

It has a flat floorboard on which a variety of items can be carried. The scooter has cutting-edge technological features like face-ID, fingerprint biometrics, and Siri voice control. Other notable features include the automatic weather model, one-click reverse, silent carbon belt system, and tyre pressure monitoring system.

Gogoro will establish a substantial network of battery swapping stations in India, just like it has done in Taiwan and several other international markets. However, given the difficulties involved, it will take time. The business is collaborating with a number of organisations to build its infrastructure for battery swapping. The advantage of battery swapping is that users can refuel in less than 10 seconds.

Gogoro announced its collaboration with Belrise Industries in the state of Maharashtra in January of this year. Over the next eight years, a $2,5 billion venture fund split 50/50 will be invested. The partnership will concentrate on areas like smart mobility sharing, smart agriculture, and distributed energy storage in addition to EV manufacturing and the development of infrastructure for battery swapping.
