TVS has finally released the X at Rs 2.50 lakh after a series of teasers. The TVS X is now the most costly electric scooter for sale in India at this pricing. A twin-spar frame supported by a telescopic fork and a monoshock is fitted with a 4.4kWh battery that powers the X and has an IDC range of 140 kilometres.
The battery pack can be charged using the 950W portable charger, which takes 4 hours and 30 minutes to charge the battery pack from 0% to 80%, or the Smart X Home rapid charger, which can charge the battery pack from 0% to 0% in 50 minutes (with an optional add-on 3kW fast charger). The portable charger is priced at Rs 16,275 (GST included).
TVS X electric scooter features
The PMSM motor on the X is capable of 40Nm of peak torque and 11kW of peak power (7kW of continuous power). A 220mm front disc and a 195mm rear disc are used for braking. The X has a unique feature that makes it the first e-scooter to do so: ABS, albeit a single-channel system. The X has 12-inch wheels with 110-section hoops in the back and a large 100-section tyre up front.
Despite having a maxi-style configuration and a seat height of 770mm, the TVS X is constructed on TVS’ XLETON platform. The Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) motor is ram-air cooled, which is a distinctive feature of this vehicle. According to TVS, the X can accelerate from a stop to 40 kph in under 2.6 seconds and can reach a top speed of 105 kph. Three riding modes—Xtealth, Xtride, and Xonic—as well as various amounts of regenerative braking are available.
The 10.25-inch TFT dash of the TVS X can be tilted at any angle to better suit the rider. Numerous options, including Bluetooth connectivity that enables music playback and navigation warnings, are available on this enormous dash. In fact, the PlayTech entertainment system allows you to use the dash to watch videos or play games while you’re still. Additionally, the X has hill-hold functionality, cruise control, and reverse assistance.
The styling is fairly avant-garde and is similar to the well-liked Creon concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The X doesn’t receive a floorboard in this case, and the spine of the frame fills that space instead. The X also includes a split-seat configuration, which is unusual for a scooter. Speaking of storage, there are 19 litres of room under each seat.
The TVS X is the most expensive e-scooter on the market right now, costing Rs 2.50 lakh, and it is not eligible for the FAME-II subsidy. Bookings for the TVS X start tomorrow, and delivery should start in November 2023, initially in Bengaluru and then throughout India by March 2024. The first 2,000 owners will receive a free Smartwatch and a $8,000 “Curated Concierge” package.
