Indian electric vehicle manufacturing: Telangana has high ambitions

Telangana will become the centre for electric vehicle manufacturing in the nation, according to IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, because the State government has developed the best EV policy in the nation. The Minister addressed the crowd after performing the Bhumi Puja for Mahindra Last Mile Mobility (LMM), a division of Mahindra &Mahindra (M&M), in Zaheerabad on Monday. He or she said the State government was setting up three hubs, one at Divitipally in Mahbubnagar district, one at Yenkathala in Vikarabad district, and one at Zaheerabad in Sangareddy district as part of the Telangan Rao claimed that only electric vehicles could limit carbon emissions and that they represented the future of the auto industry.

Rao added that the State government had announced the Telangana Mobility Valley in February of this year when Telangana hosted the Formula E race, predicting that internal combustion vehicles would eventually become obsolete. A hub for innovation would be located in Divitipally, a hub for research and development would be located in Yenkathala, and a hub for the production of electric vehicles would be located in Zaheerabad.

He claimed that Telangana’s state government had developed an EV policy, making it the first State in the nation to do so, and that industrialists were arriving to invest in the state’s chip, battery, and vehicle manufacturing industries. The State government would purchase EVs for use in the government sector, including GHMC, TSRTC, and others, with the aim of encouraging EV manufacturers.

The Minister claimed that Mahindra & Mahindra would invest Rs 1,000 crore in the current electric vehicle unit and added that Mahindra would make additional investments and expand because the electric vehicle industry would be the future.

With the introduction of the ground-breaking TSiPASS, the industrial sector in Telangana experienced a boost. The State government then extended 23,000 permissions, which attracted investments totaling 3.30 lakh crore and produced 20 lakh jobs. The Minister urged the M&M management to give locals employment priority while promising to provide all support for the establishment of a skill-enhancement centre in Zaheerabad. He also exhorted the young people in the area to seize opportunities by honing their skill sets.

The company hopes to create a cutting-edge battery assembly line, power packs, and electronic as well as drive train components for electric 3 and 4 wheelers with the help of this new facility. Additionally, the facility will employ 800 to 1000 people in the area.
