Kia India’s current flagship offering is the EV6, which made its domestic market debut in the middle of this calendar year. The electric crossover has won numerous honours throughout the world, including the 2022 European Car of the Year award, which it won over the Hyundai Ioniq 5, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Skoda Enyaq iV, Renault Megane E-Tech, and Peugeot 308.
On a single charge, the Kia EV6 has a stated driving range of 528 kilometres in the WLTP (Worldwide harmonised Light vehicles Test Procedure) cycle. The EV6 has a longer range under ARAI test conditions for India. The GT Line EV has a dual electric motor configuration, with one driving each axle, and is capable of producing 321 horsepower and 605 Nm.
According to ARAI, this all-wheel drive model has a 77.4 kWh Li-ion battery pack that allows for a claimed driving range of 708 km on a single charge. The EV6 is now imported into the country as a CBU, with the RWD variant costing close to Rs. 60 lakh (ex-showroom). The AWD package costs Rs. 64.95 lakh (ex-showroom).
Customers in India have praised the electric crossover. The South Korean automaker has delivered roughly 200 EV6 vehicles in India so far, with more than 150 more to come. The five-seater is touted to be capable of charging from 10% to 80% in 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger.
According to the manufacturer, a 50 kW can charge in 73 minutes. The Kia EV6 has no direct competitors in the domestic market, however the BMW i4 electric vehicle with a stated range of 590 km is close. Its sibling, the Ioniq 5, will be unveiled at the 2023 Auto Expo in Greater Noida next month. The AWD model is said to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.
It has a ducktail-style spoiler, full-width LED tail lamp, 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels, curved dual-screen layout, floating centre console and two-spoke steering wheel, use of sustainable materials, augmented reality HUD, 14-speaker Meridian sound system, 10-way powered and ventilated front seats, powered tailgate, 360-degree camera, ADAS tech, and other features.
