When will Tata Motors launch its Sierra EV launch in India?

Last week at the India Auto Expo 2023 in New Delhi, Tata Motors unveiled the Sierra EV, a production-ready electric SUV concept. Tata Group’s core brand, which also includes the Jaguar and Land Rover brands, has ambitious electrification plans via its Tata Passenger Electric Mobility subsidiary. It has committed to launching ten electric vehicles (EVs) in various product segments and body styles in India by 2027, including the existing Nexon EV, Tigor EV, and Tiago EV, which begin deliveries this month.

The Tata Sierra EV appears to be a much improved version of the namesake concept unveiled at the 2020 India Auto Expo. The vehicle is small in size, but it is said to have a spacious interior and luggage compartment. It has an adventure SUV appearance with well-balanced proportions, high ground clearance, an upright and flat hood, muscular bumpers with skid plates, and black cladding around the wheel arches, door sills, and bumpers.

The production version of the Sierra EV SUV will go on sale in 2025, replacing the Safari in the lineup. Tata Motors did not provide specifics, but stated that the Sierra would be available with both EV and ICE powertrains and would be built on the company’s ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture.

The Tata Sierra EV Concept features a modern dashboard with a central touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster, a multifunction steering wheel with an illuminated logo in the centre, and a chunky shifter placed on a suspended centre tunnel. The Sierra EV has lounge seating in the back, which is said to provide more space than a vehicle in a higher segment without sacrificing utility. The rear seats even have reclining functions similar to those found in business class.
