Hero MotoCorp plans to launch new models and expand its EV business

An executive at Hero MotoCorp stated that the business is aiming to increase its market share in the electric two-wheeler market as it prepares to launch more reasonably priced models in the coming months.

As it prepares to enter markets including the UK, France, Spain, and Italy next year, the two-wheeler powerhouse is also trying to increase its footprint in Europe. “The product portfolio (in the EV market) will see a lot of activity over the next six months. In an interview with PTI here on the sidelines of EICMA, Hero MotoCorp CEO Niranjan Gupta stated, “We will also be launching products (under the VIDA range) in the more affordable segments.”

Hero MotoCorp EV sales in India

The VIDA electric scooter line from Hero MotoCorp is presently available in India for between Rs 1 and Rs 1.5 lakh, including state incentives. Presently, the company has more than 400 sales touchpoints and offers the VIDA line in more than 230 cities and towns across the nation.

According to Gupta, the company has performed well in the electric market, selling 11,600 units during the 32-day holiday that just ended.

He underlined how crucial it is to have a physical infrastructure for sales and services since it fosters customer trust. “Providing client service requires a certain physicality. As Hero, we are present in every part of the nation, so I believe we have an advantage there,” Gupta stated.

Additionally, he pointed out that the organization benefits from being cost-competitive. “So, I would say cost and customer service is the differentiator between winners and losers in the long run (EV space),” he stated. In response to a question regarding the state of domestic sales generally, he stated that metropolitan areas were performing better and that rural areas were now beginning to catch up.

“So, as you proceed, I would think that the rural market can provide some positive impetus. We are aware of the positive monsoon. We are aware that the MSP has been raised by the government. Therefore, I believe that over time, all of these will have an impact on employment and income at the base of the pyramid,” Gupta stated. During the 32-day holiday, which began with Navratri, the company’s retail sales reached their greatest point ever.
In the second half of 2025, the business expects to expand into nations like the UK, Italy, Spain, and France.

Currently, the leading two-wheeler company with its headquarters in New Delhi offers its goods in 48 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. In these markets, the corporation can provide aspirational products at reasonable rates, according to Gupta.

The business intends to use the new VIDA Z electric scooter to join the European market.

Additionally, it intends to add high-capacity premium internal combustion engine (ICE) motorcycles to its lineup.
