September 2024 is set to be a thrilling month for electric vehicle enthusiasts in India with the launch of three highly anticipated models: the Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS, MG Windsor EV, and BYD M6. Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS Launch
Kicking off the lineup is the luxurious Mercedes-Benz Maybach EQS 680, set to debut on September 5. This premium electric vehicle is designed to redefine luxury with features like the MBUX Hyperscreen, multi-zone climate control, and a 15-speaker Burmesters sound system. Rear passengers can enjoy twin 11.6-inch screens, and the ambient lighting offers 64 color options for a personalized atmosphere.
Under the hood, the Maybach EQS is expected to house a robust 130-135kWh battery, delivering a range of over 600 km on a single charge. With a dual motor setup, it boasts an impressive acceleration from 0-100 kmph in just 4.4 seconds. Competing with the likes of the Lotus Eletre and BMW i7, the Maybach EQS is set to impact the luxury EV segment significantly.
MG Windsor EV Features
Following closely is the MG Windsor EV, scheduled for launch on September 11. This model is a rebadged version of the globally popular Wuling Cloud EV. MG has begun accepting bookings at select dealerships, indicating strong anticipation for its arrival.
The Windsor EV is expected to feature LED light bars, a vertically stacked headlamp cluster, and a sleek integrated spoiler. Inside, it offers leatherette upholstery, ambient lighting, and an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display. Additional features include wireless phone charging and a 135-degree recline function for rear seats. Positioned between the Comet EV and ZS EV, the Windsor EV is anticipated to be priced at around Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
BYD M6 Specifications
Completing the trio is the BYD M6, also known as the e6 Facelift, set to launch later in September. Known as M6 in the Indonesian market, the India-spec version is expected to carry the same name. This electric MPV will boast full LED headlamps, newly designed wraparound LED tail lights, and a refreshed set of alloy wheels.
The interior features a larger 12.8-inch floating touchscreen, along with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay capabilities. A panoramic sunroof and a 360-degree surround view camera enhance its appeal. Powering the BYD M6 are two battery options: a smaller 55.4kWh pack offering a 420 km range, and a larger 71.8kWh unit providing up to 530 km on a single charge. The price is expected to reach up to Rs 29.15 lakh.
