One of Tata Motors’ best-selling cars in India is the Nexon EV. It also holds the distinction of being the most favored electric vehicle in India. But recently, there have been significant headwinds. These are not limited to the all-electric products made by other manufacturers. Sales of Nexon EVs appear to be declining in certain cities due to the introduction of the Tata Curvv EV. Potential Nexon EV purchasers are reportedly switching (rather than “upgrading”) to the Curvv.EV despite the greater price, according to numerous Tata dealerships around the nation. Experts had already anticipated this shift. The speed at which this is occurring is novel.
According to experts, the change is occurring far more quickly than most had predicted. Dealers report that a significant portion of clients who have reserved or are considering reserving a Nexon EV would like to switch to the Curvv.EV.
Reason to upgrade from Tata Nexon to Tata Curvv EV
The cost of the Nexon EV’s higher models is comparable to that of the Curvv.EV. With its 40.5 kWh battery pack, the top-spec Nexon EV Empowered + LR is priced similarly to the mid-spec Curvv.EV Accomplished 55 model. Even more reasonably priced is the Curvv.EV Accomplished 45 version. The ex-showroom cost of the Nexon EV’s Empowered + LR model is Rs 19.29 lakh. The price on the road surpasses Rs 20 lakh by a small amount.
The ex-showroom pricing of the Curvv.EV accomplished 55 is Rs 19.25 lakh. At 18.49 lakh (ex-showroom), the Accomplished 45 model is even more reasonably priced. The mid-spec Curvv.EV Accomplished models are the better choice for EV buyers because even the smaller “Accomplished 45” model has a 45 kWh battery instead of the 40 kWh unit found in the Nexon EV.
With a larger 55 kWh battery, the Accomplished 55 model is even superior. The Curvv EV is reported to have a range of 500+ kilometers even with its smaller battery pack, and the 55 variant has a claimed range of 585 kilometers. Compared to what the Nexon can offer, these are noticeably better.
Value-conscious buyers can overlook the differences in features between a top-spec Nexon EV and a mid-spec Curvv.EV. Nevertheless, the Curvv.EV Accomplished lacks a sunroof, a 360-degree camera, front parking sensors, ventilated seats, cooled front seats, and a few more trinkets. These are not included in the top-spec Nexon EV, though. Due to the electric coupe’s additional range and superior powertrain, the majority of purchasers would be willing to accept this trade-off.
The Tata Curvv version that is selling the best.The mid-spec is not an EV. Customers are most interested in purchasing the Curvv Empowered +, which has the greatest specs. The majority of Curvv EV bookings, according to most dealers, are for this model.
The ex-showroom cost of the top-of-the-line Curvv.EV model is currently 21.99 lakh. The top-spec version is so popular that it comes with a significant waiting time, currently two months at eight weeks. Delivery operations have already commenced.
Later today, customer deliveries of the Tata Curvv.EV will commence. On September 3, 2024, Tata Motors will introduce the internal combustion engine versions of the Curvv SUV Coupe.
