Ola was trolling for claiming to be the “fourth largest electric vehicle company” after reading a fine print that “excludes China”

Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, 38, has drawn attention from online users due to his overstated statements regarding his company’s standing among manufacturers of electric vehicles worldwide.

Aggarwal asserted that Ola Electric Mobility is the “world’s fourth-largest EV company by revenue” at an event held last week to introduce a new line of motorcycles. He did overlook one important element, though, which was that China was not included in these rankings. Social media users started making fun of and ridiculing Aggarwal after they noticed that the presentation slide behind him had the warning in small text.

Many social media posts on X, the former name of Twitter, criticized Aggarwal for making “tall claims” and drew attention to the slide’s “excluding China” statement.

Ola introduces three models as part of its electric motorcycle venture

Ola Group announced on August 15 that it would be entering the electric motorcycle market with the release of three models and the development of two more.

Speaking at Ola’s yearly launch event, Sankalp 2024, Aggarwal stated that the company has to get into the market. “With our futuristic product portfolio, we are now focused on supercharging the EV penetration through our motorcycles. We have already been successful in accelerating the EV adoption in the scooter segment,” the speaker stated.
