Eka Mobility to Fund Rs. 600 Crore in EV Manufacturing Plants in Pune

Pune-based Eka Mobility, a producer of electric vehicles (EVs), has announced an important investment of Rs 600 crore to expand its manufacturing facilities in Chakan and Koregaon Bhima. The founder and chairman of Eka Mobility, Sudhir Mehta, disclosed intentions to concentrate on producing buses and light commercial vehicles (LCVs) at these facilities.

Details of Eka Mobility’s new EV plant

The investment seeks to set up a first manufacturing capacity that can produce about 6,000 LCVs and 2,000 buses per year. The aforementioned enlarged establishments will function as essential centers for Eka Mobility’s activities, providing automobiles to both local and global consumers. The corporation has recently formed alliances with well-known organizations like Mitsui & corporation and VDL in an effort to fortify its position in export markets and improve its technological capacities.

The company’s relationship with VDL is intended to advance the technology that has been created in-house over the previous five years, while its collaboration with Mitsui & Company, a large Japanese firm, is focused on taking advantage of export potential. Notably, Eka Mobility previously disclosed that the combined investment with Mitsui & Company and VDL totals Rs 850 crore.

At the moment, Eka Mobility is actively engaged in the tender process to supply electric buses to regional municipal organizations. The company’s use of real-time data to track and improve the operation of its e-buses is proof of its dedication to innovation. To guarantee maximum effectiveness and dependability, the company uses predictive maintenance techniques, gathering almost 300 data points every second.

Sudhir Mehta emphasized the company’s commitment to sustainable mobility solutions and technological innovation while expressing confidence in the company’s growth prospects. The significant investment in enhancing production capacity highlights Eka Mobility’s dedication to satisfying the changing demands of the electric vehicle market and aiding India’s shift to greener modes of mobility.
