Should you buy the new MG Comet EV variant?

The MG Comet lineup has been revised by MG Motor India once more, with the addition of a faster charging option for the electric city runabout being the most significant change. Additionally, MG has added a couple of extra features for these variations. The current price range for the MG Comet (ex-showroom, India) is Rs 6.99 lakh to Rs 9.14 lakh.

The automobile business is always changing, and new electric cars are frequently introduced to the market. The redesigned MG Comet EV version is one of the most recent arrivals. You may be questioning as a consumer if buying this new model is worthwhile. Let’s examine some important factors to make sure you make the right choice.

MG Comet EV upgraded models

The Pace, Play, and Plush trim levels of the Comet were once offered; these have since been renamed Executive, Excite, and Exclusive, respectively. And the option for rapid charging has only been made accessible for the latter two. The new Exclusive trim costs Rs 20,000 more than the outgoing Plush trim, however the prices of the Executive and Excite trims stay the same as the old Pace and Play trims.

MG Comet EV improvements and new features

Upon introduction, the Comet EV’s slow 3.3kW AC charger was the only accessible option, which has proven to be one of its biggest shortcomings. On the two higher-spec trims, MG has now added a faster 7.4kW AC charger; however, the firm has not yet provided a charging time. For comparison, it takes seven hours to fully charge the Comet EV using a 3.3kW AC charger.

In addition, the fast-charging versions gain a few more significant feature upgrades over the standard versions. These include power folding wing mirrors that are now finished in body color, an electronic parking brake, ESC, hill hold control, rear disc brakes, and a creep mode. Although the top price has climbed by Rs 56,000, it still appears to be a better deal.
