One of Tata Motors’ most ambitious initiatives is Curvv. A similar pre-production concept was revealed the previous year. The future crossover will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, and other models in the compact SUV market by bridging the gap between the Nexon and Harrier.
Launch of Tata Curvv in 2024
A recent internet source claims that Tata Motors’ Currv would be its first significant all-new product introduction in 2024. In the recent past, test mules for coupe SUVs have been seen quite a few times. The report also states that Curvv’s series production is anticipated to start in April 2024.
Although Curvv’s launch date is unknown, it is most likely to occur in May or June of the following year. The production-spec Curvv will be offered in both EV and ICE versions, similar to Nexon. Tata Motors wants to see 48,000 units sold annually under the Curvv brand combined. Previous sources state that the battery-operated Curvv model is anticipated to launch first.
The domestic automaker plans to sell 12,000 Tata Curvv EVs annually; the remaining 36,000 will be made up by the ICE variant, which will make its debut later. The Nexon is made in Tata’s facility in Ranjangaon, where both Curvv variants will be constructed.Â
Options for the Tata Curvv’s powertrain
One EV and two ICE engine options are anticipated for the Tata Curvv. Curvv’s electric variant is anticipated to come in single- and dual-motor configurations. Whereas the latter will have all-wheel drive, the former will have front-wheel drive. The range for each will be between 400 and 500 kilometres on a single charge.
Expected to power the ICE Curvv will be a new 1.2-liter direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine, which made its debut at Auto Expo 2023. This motor has a maximum torque of 225 Nm and 123 horsepower. It’s expected that both manual and automatic transmissions will be available. It is anticipated that a CNG version of the same drivetrain would go on sale later.
