Tata Motors July Sales Drops by 1.4%: EVs continue to be strong

In July 2023, Tata Motors announced its sales data. 80,633 units in total were sold by the company on both domestic and foreign markets. Tata sold 81,790 units in July 2022, thus there has been a minor decline in sales this year of 1.41 percent when compared to those figures.

Total passenger vehicle sales, which include electric vehicles, totaled 47,689 units in July 2023. Comparing this to the 47,636 units sold in the same month last year, there is a little increase. The considerable increase in overall electric car sales, which saw an astounding 53% year-over-year gain, is one intriguing feature. Tata Motors sold 6,329 electric vehicles in July 2023 as opposed to 4,151 in July 2022.

However, compared to the same period the previous year, total commercial vehicle sales experienced a minor fall of 4%. The company sold 32,944 commercial vehicles in July 2023 as opposed to 34,154 in July 2022.

Tata Motors’ drop in July sales

With a domestic market-centric strategy, Tata Motors sold 78,844 units in July 2023. This is slightly less than the 78,978 copies that were sold in the same month the year before. We observe a good trend when we focus on domestic sales of MH&ICVs (Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicles), which comprise trucks and buses. The company sold 13,291 MH&ICV units in July 2023 as opposed to 12,012 units in July 2022.

In conclusion, Tata Motors’ sales performance for July 2023 showed a variety of tendencies. While overall sales were slightly down from the same time last year, the electric car market saw strong year-over-year growth, which was encouraging. Domestic MH&ICV sales, meanwhile, showed positive growth.
