TATA.ev Launches Ultra-Fast EV MegaChargers

In a landmark move set to accelerate India’s electric vehicle adoption, TATA.ev has unveiled its first 10 high-speed MegaChargers strategically positioned across the country’s major highways and urban centers. This ambitious initiative marks the beginning of TATA.ev’s commitment to establish 500 ultra-fast charging stations nationwide, addressing the critical infrastructure gap that has long hindered widespread EV adoption in India.

By focusing on key intercity corridors and collaborating with leading charging infrastructure providers ChargeZone and Statiq, TATA.ev is tackling range anxiety head-on while creating a premium charging experience that combines speed, reliability, and convenience for electric vehicle owners.

The launch of these MegaChargers represents a significant milestone in India’s journey toward sustainable mobility, offering minimum 120 kW ultra-fast charging capabilities with the flagship 400 kW station in Vadodara capable of adding 150 km of range in just 15 minutes.

Strategic Highway Coverage Transforms Long-Distance EV Travel

TATA.ev’s MegaCharger network has been meticulously planned to address one of the most significant barriers to EV adoption in India: range anxiety during intercity travel. The company has strategically positioned its first 10 high-speed charging stations along three major highway corridors and in two key urban centers:

Mumbai-Ahmedabad Highway: Three MegaChargers spaced approximately 150-200 km apart along this 500 km route provide consistent coverage for travelers. The flagship installation at Shreenath Food Hub in Vadodara features an impressive 400 kW charging capacity capable of simultaneously charging six vehicles and adding 150 km of range in just 15 minutes. Additional stations at Shanti Complex (Vapi) and Hotel Xpress Inn (Ghodbunder) complete the corridor with 120 kW charging capabilities.

“These first 10 TATA.ev MegaCharger sites in key EV corridors of the country are the first tranche of a superfast charging network that we will have across major highways,” said Balaje Rajan, Chief Strategy Officer of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. “The TATA.ev MegaCharger network will increasingly connect all major cities across India to remove charging anxiety.”

Delhi-Jaipur Highway: Four strategically placed 120 kW MegaChargers at approximately 60 km intervals ensure comprehensive coverage along this 270 km route. Locations include SS Plaza (Gurugram), Hotel Old Rao (Kaprivas), Asli Pappu Dhaba (Hamzapur), and Hotel Highway King (Shahpura), each offering dedicated parking bays and amenities.

Pune-Nashik Highway: A 120 kW MegaCharger at Akash Misal House in Rajgurunagar provides a crucial midway charging point for travelers on this important Maharashtra route.

Additionally, urban installations in Bengaluru’s Electronic City (Monk Mansion) and Udaipur (Ramee Royal Resort) cater to city dwellers and tourists, respectively, with 120 kW fast charging capabilities.

Collaborative Approach Accelerates Infrastructure Development

TATA.ev’s MegaCharger network exemplifies the power of strategic partnerships in addressing infrastructure challenges. The company has adopted an “Open Collaboration” framework, partnering with established Charge Point Operators (CPOs) like ChargeZone and Statiq, as well as Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), to rapidly expand charging availability.

“Our collaboration with TATA.ev is a milestone in building a trusted, nationwide EV charging network,” said Akshit Bansal, Founder & CEO of Statiq. “By co-branding with them, we will make EV adoption more accessible and reliable for every Indian, empowering users to easily locate and use charging stations through the iRA.ev & Statiq app.”

Similarly, Kartikey Hariyani, CEO & Managing Director of ChargeZone, emphasized the focus on user experience: “Together, ChargeZone and TATA.ev are pushing the boundaries of EV charging in India by focusing on the needs of today’s EV drivers—fast, reliable, and easily accessible solutions. We’re building a seamless EV ecosystem that supports innovative features including auto charge, RFID tap and charge, which meets current demands and future mobility needs.”

This collaborative approach allows TATA.ev to leverage existing expertise while accelerating deployment, crucial for meeting its ambitious target of more than doubling India’s charging infrastructure to 400,000 points by 2027.

The Road Ahead: Implications for India’s EV Ecosystem

The launch of TATA.ev’s MegaCharger network represents more than just new charging stations—it signals a fundamental shift in India’s approach to EV infrastructure. By addressing the critical issue of intercity charging and creating premium experiences, TATA.ev is helping transform how consumers perceive electric vehicles.

As India’s largest 4-wheeler EV manufacturer continues its rollout of 500 planned MegaChargers nationwide, the impact on EV adoption could be substantial. The comprehensive coverage along major highways will enable seamless long-distance travel, potentially removing one of the last major barriers to mainstream EV acceptance.
