Jaguar’s Next EV Hits the Road: Global Debut Coming Soon!

Jaguar is preparing to make a big impact in the electric vehicle (EV) industry with its next completely electric luxury sedan, which is scheduled to make its debut on December 2. The car, which is now being tested on European roads, marks a significant turning point in the company’s transition to high-performance EVs and sustainability.

The luxury carmakers intend to replace their current lineup with electric vehicles (EVs) by 2025. Testing of this future luxury battery-powered saloon has begun in the UK, the manufacturer has disclosed. Virtual and physical testing of the all-electric four-door Grand Tourer has already covered tens of thousands of miles. This model’s prototypes will soon be placed on public roads and test locations worldwide.

Based on a specialized electric architecture known as JEA (Jaguar Electric Architecture), the unidentified vehicle will create a new chapter in Jaguar’s automotive history. It will be constructed in Solihull, UK. Although there are now no technical details available, the test mule is carefully camouflaged, but the most recent photos show a lot about the vehicle’s exterior design.

The prominent, rectangular grille-like element at the front is an intriguing design choice, likely a stylistic element rather than a functional air intake, given the electric powertrain. Further, reports suggest that it will flaunt a new grille up front which will become the face for future Jaguar models. However, since this is a concept, the final production-spec model might undergo some revisions when it comes out.

Future Jaguar EV Specifications and Design

The next 4-door GT prototype from Jaguar exhibits a unique design aesthetic. A traditional GT profile is characterized by an expansive hood, a rearward-facing cabin, and a sloping roofline. The car’s long length, big wheels, and prominent nose all point to a focus on stability and performance. Given the electric powertrain, the large, rectangular grille-like piece at the front is an interesting design choice that is probably more of a decorative element than a practical air intake.

Additionally, rumors indicate that it will sport a redesigned front grille that will serve as the emblem for upcoming Jaguar models. Since this is only a concept, there may be some changes made to the final production-spec model before it is released. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has not yet announced whether or not this all-electric four-door GT will arrive in India. However, since Tata Motors owns JLR, we anticipate that it will debut in India in late 2019.
