Chennai based EV charging station manufacturer In partnership with ESYGO, Kerala’s State Co-operative Institute of Information Technology, Electronics, and Communications (COSTECH) has announced plans to install 2,000 EV charging stations throughout the state by 2030. In front of important dignitaries, including ESYGO’s leadership team and COSTECH Chairman Prof. E. Kunhiraman, the agreement was formally signed in Thiruvananthapuram.
The project intends to construct an extensive network of EV charging infrastructure across Kerala, encompassing both rural and urban locations. This program will support the state’s efforts to lower carbon emissions in addition to promoting the use of electric vehicles. The construction of charging stations will boost economic growth and encourage environmentally friendly transportation by giving small companies, cooperatives, and apartment complexes revenue opportunities.
Kerala Upcoming Plan on EV Charging Stations
The charging stations will be open around-the-clock, and to improve the client experience, there will be extra facilities like coffee shops, internet cafés, and public information centers. Studies show that more than 10 million EVs will be on Keralan roads by 2030 due to the growing popularity of electric vehicles, making the construction of reliable charging infrastructure essential.
In addition to providing technical support and funding to individuals, cooperatives, and groups to establish the stations, the project is backed by central government rules for EV charging infrastructure. In order to improve the client experience, the COSTECH and ESYGO joint project will include charging stations that are open around the clock in addition to coffee shops, internet cafés, and public information centers.
Studies show that by 2030, there will be over 10 million electric vehicles on Keralan roads, contributing to the state’s rapid adoption of EVs, particularly in Kerala. As a result, extensive charging infrastructure is required. The central government’s recommendations for the development and operation of electric car charging infrastructure would be followed by the charging stations in Kerala. Individuals, clubs, cooperatives, and organizations with at least 500 square feet of space—whether owned or leased—will be eligible for bank financing and technical assistance to build charging stations as part of the COSTECH-ESYGO initiative.
