The Basalt coupe-SUV was introduced by Citroen India in August 2024. In order to compete with the Tata Curvv, it was first available with a petrol engine at an introductory price of Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). But the latter also has an EV version, and rumors have it that the Citroen Basalt EV is being developed to compete with the Curvv EV. A few spy photos of a fully disguised coupe-SUV, allegedly the Basalt EV, have just appeared online.
According to the spy photos, the Basalt EV will have a few minor differences from the ICE model. These changes include updated air dams, a new front bumper, and the removal of the front grille. The charging slot might be located at the back fender, and it might be mounted on recently developed alloy wheels.
Citroen Basalt EV Features
A wraparound LED tail-lamp cluster, a sloping roofline, a shark-fin antenna, flap-style door handles, a high-mounted stop lamp, and split headlamps are some of the important features that the EV version will also keep. The cabin is anticipated to resemble the gasoline model as well, with the exception of a new upholstery color. Modern and cutting-edge features including wireless smartphone charging, TPMS (tire pressure monitoring system), automated climate control, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be included.
The Citroen Basalt EV’s 35kWh battery pack has a 450-kilometer range between charges. One electric motor with a power output of about 100 horsepower might be connected to the battery. However, there is currently no confirmation on the battery pack or range. There are two battery packs available for the Tata Curvv EV: 45kWh and 55kWh. Both prices are ex-showroom, with the former starting at Rs 17.49 lakh and the latter at Rs 19.25 lakh. With significant localization, we anticipate the Basalt EV to start at about 14–15 lakh (ex-showroom).
