Spy images have revealed that the Creta EV will closely resemble its ICE (internal combustion engine) counterpart, with several EV-specific design tweaks. These include:

  • A closed-off front grille with a charging port
  • New bumpers
  • Aero-optimized alloy wheels

Inside, the dashboard layout is expected to be similar to the petrol and diesel models but with subtle changes. These may include:

  • Repositioned ventilated seat buttons
  • Electronic parking brake
  • A new 3-spoke Ioniq 5-like steering wheel with paddle shifters
  • Drive selector stalk mounted on the steering column

Under the hood, the Creta EV is rumored to house a 45kWh battery pack and a front-axle-mounted electric motor, borrowed from the Hyundai Kona EV. This setup is expected to deliver:

  • 136hp of power
  • 255Nm of torque
  • An estimated range of up to 450km on a single charge

Pricing for the Hyundai Creta EV is expected to fall between Rs 17 lakh and Rs 22 lakh, positioning it as a direct competitor to the Tata Curvv EV, MG ZS EV, and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki eVX.

Next-gen Grand i10 Nios EV – Hyundai’s Entry-Level Electric Hatchback

In addition to the Creta EV, Hyundai is also developing an electric version of the next-gen Grand i10 Nios, expected to launch between 2026 and 2027. This entry-level EV will go head-to-head with the Tata Tiago EV, which currently dominates the electric hatchback segment in India.

Though specifics are still under wraps, Hyundai is likely to equip this model with compact yet powerful battery packs and motors to deliver impressive range and efficiency for urban commuters.

Hyundai Inster EV – A Future Rival for Tata Punch EV

Slated for launch in 2026, the Hyundai Inster EV will debut on the company’s e-GMP platform, which is designed specifically for electric vehicles. This EV will target the growing compact electric SUV market and is expected to compete directly with the Tata Punch EV and Citroen eC3.

Venue-Based Electric Compact SUV – Taking on the Tata Nexon EV

Hyundai is also working on a Venue-based electric SUV, which is expected to hit the market soon after the Inster EV. This compact SUV will challenge the best-selling Tata Nexon EV, which currently dominates the compact electric SUV segment.

Hyundai’s EV Roadmap for India

With these upcoming launches, Hyundai is positioning itself to take on the booming electric vehicle market in India. The Creta EV, Grand i10 Nios EV, Inster EV, and Venue-based electric compact SUV will offer Indian consumers a range of choices across segments, combining Hyundai’s hallmark of innovative technology with cutting-edge electric performance.

In addition to these models, Hyundai’s continued focus on local production and competitive pricing strategies indicates its serious commitment to becoming a major player in India’s electric vehicle landscape.
