The BMW i7 eDrive50 EV launched for ₹2.03 crore

A new version of BMW’s best-selling electric car, the i7, has been secretly introduced in India.

The BMW i7 eDrive50 is the newest model that costs ₹2.03 crore (ex-showroom) instead of the ₹2.13 crore that the i7 xDrive60 variant commanded. Although it has a different powerplant, the new model has just minor visual alterations. The pricing of the new i7 eDrive50 is Rs 10 lakh less than that of the previous variant. The reduced cost can be attributed to two main factors. First off, there isn’t a spare wheel included with the eDrive50. In addition, the eDrive has a single motor for rear wheel drive, while the previous model had a dual motor for all wheel drive.

This same 101.7 kWh battery, which offers a 603 km (ARAI) range on a single charge, powers the i7 eDrive50. An electric motor positioned on the back tire receives power from the battery and produces a maximum torque of 650 Nm and 444 horsepower. By contrast, the i7 XDrive60 that was discontinued produced 538 horsepower and 745 Nm of torque. In terms of performance, the eDrive50 takes only 5.5 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph.

Besides, the eDrive50 also supports DC fast charging up to 195 kW that rejuvenates a battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 34 minutes. Top speed is electronically limited at 250 kmph.

The BMW M Sport package is standard on the i7 eDrive50, just like it is on the departing xDrive60. Because of this, it has advantages such an eight-kilogram, 31.3-inch “cinema” screen mounted on the roof, a M Sport leather seat upholstery with five color options, and a 3-spoke M Walknappa leather steering wheel.

A 12.3-inch digital instrument display and a Bowers and Wilkins audio system are among the additional options available. In addition to comforts, the M Sport option adds side skirts, outside rearview mirrors, and 21-inch M Star-spoke design wheels to the i7 eDrive50’s look. The BMW i7 faces competition in India from vehicles such as the Audi e-tron GT, Porsche Taycan, and Mercedes-Benz EQS 580, to mention a few.
