MG ZS EV replacement leaked before 2025 debut

Here is our first look at the brand-new, all-electric compact SUV that will replace the electric MG ZS EV. It is built on the MG4 hatchback, which is an award-winning vehicle. The MG4 and the Cyberster electric drop-top share a lot of family traits, although the SUV’s headlights are significantly narrower and its front end isn’t quite as angular.

The name of the car is one crucial item that is missing from the MIIT petition. David Allison, the head of product for MG in the UK, informed us that the vehicle won’t be known as the ZS EV, but he didn’t disclose the official name.

Since the new electric SUV and its brother share the same Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), they ought to be offered with identical battery and motor configurations. Accordingly, the model with the longest range should be able to go more than 300 miles (482 km) on a single charge. All-wheel drive versions may also be possible. To further give it an SUV appearance, it also gets black plastic side cladding, a set of roof rails, and wheel arch. The front bumper of the MG4 and Cyberster has a sizable air inlet to help cool the motors and batteries underneath, and the nose of the vehicle sports a massive chrome MG octagon insignia.

In the meantime, the back features the same MG4-style full-width light bar and Y-shaped taillights. In comparison to the ZS EV, the new model is lower and wider at 1,849 mm wide and 1,621 mm tall. A larger “C-segment” or mid-size electric SUV will be built on the same MSP platform as the ZS EV successor, according to MG’s UK product manager. Both vehicles are presently undergoing testing in Longbridge.

The second, as of yet unnamed, electric SUV from the company will also be available for purchase in the UK in 2025. It essentially serves as a replacement for the MG Marvel R, which was offered for sale in Europe but was never seen in a British dealership. “For people who are looking for a bigger EV, certainly bigger than the ZS EV replacement, I suppose this would be the next natural step up and it would be the biggest one that we do,” Allison said of this specific model. It is anticipated to compete with EVs such as the upcoming Kia EV5, Renault Scenic, and Skoda Enyaq.
