MG Cloud EV Spied Again: Up to 460 km of claimed range

MG Motor plans to increase the range of its electric vehicles in India with the launch of the new Cloud EV. The Cloud EV is expected to launch as the brand’s flagship electric car in India, taking the position above the ZS EV. After the ZS, this will be the third electric car offered by MG in India. The upcoming product, which is expected to arrive in our country later this year, was recently seen undergoing testing once more. The new MG Cloud EV is shown in the spy photographs well camouflaged, with little information about the car shown. The Cloud EV is expected to cost more over Rs 30 lakh (ex-showroom) when it comes in September of this year.

MG Cloud EV’s Exterior and Design

A closed-off grille, split LED headlamps, and a fully LED DRL spanning the fascia are all expected design elements. There will also be a charging port on the front fender. Additional design features could include integrated spoilers, a large air dam, door-mounted ORVMs, a wraparound glasshouse, and flush-fitting door handles.

The MG Cloud EV is available in two battery capacities for outside markets: 37.9kWh, which has a 360km range, and 50.6kWh, which has a 460km range. Whatever the battery pack, the EV is powered by a 132bhp permanent magnet synchronous motor installed in the front axle. We expect to see a 50.6kWh battery pack with an electric motor introduced in India. The dimensions of the MG Cloud EV are 1,850 mm in width, 1,652 mm in height, and 4,295 mm in length. With its crossover body shape and five seats, it should have a roomy cabin. There aren’t many physical buttons or controls within, and the arrangement is straightforward.

The inside has the large touchscreen infotainment system, fully reclining front seats with the option to place them in “sofa mode,” and a digital instrument cluster. The AC vents are tucked neatly into a horizontal trim, and the door panels have distinctive round speakers. It also has a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, linked car technology, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 ADAS suite for foreign markets. The BYD Atto 3 will be the primary competitor of the MG Cloud EV in the premium EV market. The Tata Nexon EV, BYD e6, Mahindra XUV400, and the soon-to-be Maruti Suzuki eVX will be among the other rivals.
