Chevrolet Spark Is Prepared To Reappear As An Affordable Electric Vehicle for The Commuter

Before its discontinuation in 2022, the Chevrolet Spark was a reasonably priced, tiny, and compact city car in the company’s lineup. General Motors is reportedly considering resurrecting the brand in the shape of an electric crossover.

According to reports, GM may have filed a trademark application in Laos under Category 12 (motor land vehicles, autos) for the name “Chevrolet Spark EUV.” The crossover variation that was formerly employed on the Bolt EUV is denoted by the EUV suffix.

The Chevrolet Spark EUV may be the most affordable EV

Contrary to what some may imagine, we don’t think this trademark implies that the Spark EUV will take the place of the Bolt EV. Prior to production ceasing last year, when the Bolt EV saw its best-ever sales year, it was the most reasonably priced EV in America. However, GM CEO Mary Barra has previously stated that Chevrolet will bring back the Bolt, saying it will offer “better driving, charging, and ownership experience with a vehicle we know customers love.” The Bolt will be built on the Ultium platform.

Barra also hinted that the next-generation Bolt will “leverage the best attributes of today’s Bolt EUV,” implying that it will be a somewhat larger crossover and opening the door for a smaller EV such as the Spark EUV. The Spark EUV has the potential to provide Americans with an EV alternative that is genuinely inexpensive, provided that Chevrolet can properly manage the price.

Naturally, that is contingent upon the timing of the Spark EUV’s release. Rivals Ford and Jeep, located across town, are getting ready to launch their reasonably priced electric vehicles in the upcoming years. By 2027, both companies want to launch EVs, with Jeep targeting a $25,000 starting price. Regarding the drivetrain, we anticipate that the Spark EUV will use an electric motor situated in front of the axle, with a horsepower or so output. A range of about 250 miles is possible with Ultium technology; any further mileage would put the Equinox EV in direct competition and may reduce sales. It is, of course, only a trademark, and no information has been verified.
